I made sure i’ve updated both the PS3 and server, and it does indeed seem smoother now. I haven’t tested it exstensively yet but it has improved. I’ll test it as soon i have time to kill and watch some shows. 
This has been really frustrating for me since the latest server update. There is definitely still an issue in that some screens are really slow to load and get progressively slower. I particularly notice this on the film/episore pre-play screen (I think that’s what you call it) and particularly if I watch episodes of the same show one after another. I think the worst case scenario is to select a tv show directly from the home screen in the On Deck discover section, go to pre-play screen, watch episode, return to pre-play screen, press back, select next episode of same show from home screen, go to pre-play, etc…
There are however some definite improvements and screens which are no longer affected by this (or at least affected less). This includes the home screen and (for example) the On Deck screen which seem to load quickly even if the pre-play screen loads slowly when accessed from one of those.
What are other people seeing?

But yes the prob on my ps3’s at home seem to have gotten a lot better now. Before I would have a slow down after 1 or 2 hour long shows, and now I can go most of a season with out the issue.

Glad this is an issue being fixed. I am hard wired through a router, out then via a 100 Mb connection to a 1 Gbps server. I thought I was just nuts and screwed something up in Debian, because I knew the pipes had plenty of juice in them.
Any update on when this issue is likely to be fixed? This issue was introduced around mid Aug during the large plex update of that time and its now nearly the end of Nov with the issue remaining.
@markcurrancavan The silence from @mattseeley on this topic has in the past been indicative of him working on investigation or updating the platform. This has been acknowledged as an issue (although the changes in symptoms since the 0.9.14 server updated have not) so I am confident that there have been detailed investigations and we should see some progress (if only in additional debugging code or experimental changes) with the next release.

@DavidIrwin sure but to be honest the plex app on playstation is almost unusable due to this. If you watch more than one show it grinds to a halt and becomes so unresponsive. Exiting and restarting kinda helps until it happens again. I’ve had to revert back to using the native media player app that comes with the PS3 until this issue is fixed so was hoping to get a more accurate timescale on a fix outside of “please wait…”
Hoping for a full fix soon so I can yet again use the plex UI to view my media on playstation.
It’s interesting you find the issue so bad. I find that it is usable for about 4/5 episodes of anything but maybe I’m more patient or accepting of the issue!?
I have been fairly disappointed in the PS3 app relative to other platforms and am seriously considering either an AppleTV or Roku3 to replace the PS3 as I rarely play games these days.
As with you I would love to hear a “we’ve fixed it pending release” or “we are actively investigating” or “we understand the cause and are working on a solution” or something. Just not planning to hold my breath! :!!
I think it may depend on the amount of episodes in a season and/or the size of the library. For example, I posted this thread (http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/191154/slow-loading-episode-data-on-playstation-3-from-a-show-with-20-series?new=1) on a large series. I find if its a show with just 1 or 2 seasons then its not as bad but the more seasons you have in a show the worse it gets.
I agree on the disappointment of the playstation apps (PS3/PS4). What is so frustrating for me is that using the native playstation player streaming from a plex server works perfectly. Yes, it does not have the nice UI but it works so is clearly a plex UI problem on the playstation app. I purchased the plex pass to have the nice UI.
My yearly renewal is up in dec and I am seriously considering not reviewing as if I’m forced to use the native app then what am I really getting from my subscription. We’ll see !
That is a very interesting point - I had not considered the size of the library or series when considering this loading issue. I first noticed the issue while working my way through ER (15 seasons, 308 episodes) and have found it to be less of an issue with The West Wing (7 seasons, 160 episodes). There is a noticable difference when watching films 812 in a flat library (no subfolders) but only one copy of any given film.
I will have to watch that more carefully and see what difference if any it makes.
Hi @DavidIrwin. It could have some positive effect. The new PMS versions enable image caching. Previously caching was disabled on the server which caused every media image to be downloaded again (and again) while browsing.
Please avoid 0.9.14.3 until we get a fix out in 0.9.14.4 (https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/195573/caution-plex-media-server-0-9-14-3-breaks-ps3-and-ps4-transcoded-and-direct-stream-playback#latest).
I notice the new release of the player for PS3 & 4 has additional debug logging. Should I enable this to get more info/help on the slow navigation issue?

Experiencing similar sluggishness. Up to 30 seconds to change menus or start playback, menus practically unnavigable due to lag. Combined with the lack of playlist support, this app is far from user ready.

I find it astonishing that an issue like this introduced in Aug (this problem never happened before that) still has not been fixed almost 4 months later.
running the same version as Markcurrancavan and it is so slow. to navigate between shows or anywhere.

I feel you, even worse is that you pay for it but the problems for that product you pay for doesn’t get prioritised. As it’s seen by me anyway.
This is quite disappointing. The only way around it i’ve found is to not even use navigation on the ps3 and just cast content to the ps3 from my phone. Even that takes a good time for the media to load though.
We need someone to actively look and debug this issue. It has to be some type of DB or GUI issue!
I recently moved to using Plex on my PS3 as I wanted proper surround sound (My Media Server only has SPDIF/TosLink out for sound).
Wow, what a mistake that was, I get full DTS now, after spending a frustrating amount of time navagating to the content. I have gone back to using the Media Server PC and the Windows 10 App (Obviously. only compressed Dolby Prologic now), like greased lightning compared to the PS3!
The Playstation App is essentially unusable.
Using the PS3 app, version 2.5.1 and Server version 0.9.15.0.
I too am experiencing this menu slowness on PS3 despite it comfortably direct streaming 1080p movies on wireless connection off an old laptop running ubuntu. The movies play end to end without buffering at all (had to adjust some settings) but getting through the menu to get to that point is painful. I actually find it a bit random as sluggish at times, will work for a few clicks then take ages for next action. Doesn’t ever seem to crash. Really like the UI but the menu surfing is a real drawback given the native ps3 plex dlna link responds rapidly, even time between songs etc…
Ok, it’s been nearly two months since @mattseeley has said something. Could we please get atleast an update on what progress has been done of if it’s been any progress at all?
