PS4 and MKV native support

So,
now that PS4 has native playback of .mkv files, what’s the chances of this being supported directly in Plex? IE it doesn’t try and transcode them, it just plays them?

the built in media server from Sony seems to be a working a lot better than Plex player. I can try and play some media using PLEX PS4 player and it says “your server isn’t powerful enough” etc. But if I go to my Plex Media Server VIA the Sony player it plays the same media (mkv file) perfectly fine.

Surely this is something that should be supported by PLEX?

Yeah, I agree on this! MKV should be included now…

Third party apps arent using the same player as Sonys own dlna player. This is on Sony, not plex. Its unfortunate as it renders this otherwise fine client useless in my case.

Fingers crossed for some announcement regarding this on E3
