I have a plex pass account and have downloaded the plex app for my PS3 & PS4, however I am unable to connect any of these consoles to the PMS. When I open the plex app on either PlayStation console it give me 4 char PIN and advise to go to http://plex.tv/pin to learn about plex pass, which I have.
if I go to the plex.tv site it redirects me normal plex login screen, which I do. Once logged in it ask for a PIN to connect my device. This PIN isn't the PIN the app advise nor does it seem to be the PIN I created under my account.
why can't this app see my local PMS ?
If load the plex app on my android tablet it prompts me for my username and password and finds my local PMS without an issue. All devices are on the same network

I have exactly the same problem.
Nobody has a solution ?
Not sure if it is the same as the other user mentioned a pin on his account - which is part of Plex Home and there may have been confusion with plex.tv/pin which is for an easy way for the app to find the server. The server needs to be signed in to plex.tv within settings / server / general in Plex Web for the server

the fact is that my PS3 and my android tablet is connected to the same wifi.
I have the plex.app installed on these 2 devices.
The tablet can see my server PLEX, my phone too.
The PS3 does not find my server PLEX.
The wireless network is local.
I have read and followed all the steps of troubleshooting.

OK - so what was the outcome of investigation each possible cause listed on the troubleshooting support page? Have you confirmed if you have DNS Rebinding issue ?
the result was that everything was fine.
i dont have problems with DNS Rebinding, I have my own firewall (linux) and work very well.
The PLEX is installed in another machine and use the same network with PS3. They do not pass through the firewall.

thanks
will need to start sharing some results - otherwise if we just i have checked everything and there is nothing wrong - will not get us near establishing what might be wrong
Could you try with changing Server Secure Connection setting to Disabled - Settings / Server / Network
and then save changes and sign the server out and in within settings / server / general
After this sign in within the PS3 plex app - so sign out and sign in again
If still does not resolve -
Does the PS3 have access to the internet and able to communicate with plex.tv ?
The Plex for PS3 app would ask plex.tv for the server details. The request it sends is one you can try in a browser to see what you get back https://plex.tv/pms/resources.xml?includeHttps=1
Could you zip and attach the xml you get back
Well, in short, nothing worked.
After taking a few days off to get my mind cleared, I began again.
The solution was easier than it looked.
I had blocked PLEX from accessing outside my network. I opened a port and routed to PLEX. After doing this, the PLEX on the PS3 started to run smoothly.
I closed the port for internet access. I turned off all servers and PS3.
Again I turn around and it works great.
Apparently the PLEX on PS3 need to make some sort of check online for it to work, the first time. Unfortunately I have not read anything about it in the documentation.
All it says is that you connect to the internet and do login. After you enter the pin you get to work. It does not say you should open the port for internet access from the server PLEX.

Well, I hope someone will serve this experience.
Thank you very much for the help
Is it the Remote Access that needed to be enabled ? and the port being the public port used for remote access?
It would normally be sufficient to have the server logged in to plex.tv with server settings / general and then the PS3 would ask plex.tv for the connection info for the Plex Media Server. Unless you have DNS Rebinding then remote access connection route should not be needed and in any case i understand the PS3 does not use secure connections and so DNS Rebinding would not come into it
I had this exact same problem and this thread gave me a little guidance in what to look for. I just needed to go into the settings section of Plex on the QNAP side and sign in there as well even though I was already signed in on the home page. Once I did that I connected immediately and all my libraries popped. Didn’t have to forward any ports or enable remote access. Hope this helps!
Yes sign in should be sufficient for local connections. Only need more than that if the secure connections are being used locally and there is DNS Rebinding - in such cases alternate route would be via the public IP and public port plex.direct secure url
When server is signed in to plex.tv, plex.tv is given details of the server local IP Address and secure connections setting
When the Plex for Playstation is signed in to plex.tv it asks plex.tv for the server connection details
Is it the Remote Access that needed to be enabled ? and the port being the public port used for remote access?
That’s right, I need to open remote. After hit and runs, I canceled remote access

Supposedly it should be so.

I’m sure I have no problem with DNS Rebinding.
In any case, if I have problems with DNS Rebinding, Android devices, connected to the same network as the ps3, neither they would function, true ?
Even one of the tests I did was leave only the wifi, PLEX server and PS3 connected, and it does not work.
I want to clarify that the wifi I use is not the same as the router. The wifi is connected to a private network after the firewall.
Well, very strange situation, but it is now running.
Thanks

The android and ios apps have ways round DNS Rebinding. You can eliminate Secure Connections by disabling it on the server to run tests. For DNS Rebinding it can be tested doing nslookup on the local IP plex.direct url that you see in xml from https://plex.tv/pms/resources.xml?includeHttps=1
But as PS3 I understand does not use secure connections, then DNS Rebinding is not a factor but the server must not have Secure Connections set to Required
