I'm currently staying at a hotel for an extensive period of time. I'm having trouble connecting my PS4 to PLEX. The only information I can find is complicated online. I'm not an IT guy. Can anyone break this down to layman's terms?
Assuming you already have a Plex server up and running, and accessible remotely, you just need to setup the PS4 stuff:
Connect PS4 to internet (either via ethernet or wifi).
Download Plex app on PS4.
Start up Plex app and follow instructions.
Enter the requested PIN.
Should start working!
If you don't have Plex server up and running, then that's a whole other topic.
Under the remote settings it says unable to connect to the server. I’m assuming this is my problem. All the info I could find seems a little complex. Im looking for someone to break it down step by step.
Provide more information about your Plex server.
Do you have the Plex app for your phone? Or do you have a laptop? If so, check to see if you can access Plex on those devices at the hotel first.
I’m using my laptop as the server. Windows 8. I can see my ps4 on the device list but on the laptop it says unable to establish a remote connection. I’m thinking I have to so something to the hotel router?
Your main problem is setting up your server then. It’s very possible that the hotel network may not work with Plex. Use a VPN if you have one.
But I’d look under the documentation on setting up your server first. You’re jumping the gun by trying to use the PS4.
I was about to say same thing hotel likely has no port fowarding at all that plex needs.
