PS4 Plex App can't find the server

Server Version#: 1.18.6.2368
Player Version#: 2.01

Hello,
my Plex Media Server is working fine. I can connect via mobile and desktop player, Chromecast etc. and can use every feature. I also can connect via DLNA from my PS4.
Only my Plex App on my PS4 can’t find the server. I am logged in with my account. Server is running fine. PlayStation4 Plex App says it can’t find any server. I restarted both server and player many times and reinstalled the apps. Same error.
The most confusing thing is that I can connect perfectly with the PS4 Media Player via DLNA but the Plex App says it can’t find any server.

Doesn’t work for me either, same thing. Not sure if you need a plex pass to use ps4 as a client with pc as the server.

Same issue for me and I have a plexpass. I checked firewall configuration and I saw no problem. Also I restarted server, ps4 and I reinstalled the app but nothing worked

Same here, the gamepad it seems freeze and I can’t connect to the server, I have reinstalled and the same. I can use the tablet of phone to watch the films in the TV using chromecast.

Guys is there any solution yet?

I have found my new Nvidia shield 2019 pro can find the server.
MY ps4 on the same network cannot.

Was just coming here to post something along these lines, was hoping to find a decent solution since I had used PS4 in the past but the latest app and server config seems unable to connect.

I’ve tried just about every possible usual fix - disabling IPv6, refreshing secure vs unsecure vs prefer secured connections, checking to make sure both the PS4 and the PMS computer are on the same network, nothing.

Have also unlinked, relinked, uninstalled, reinstalled, repaired the desktop media server app, checked firewalls, i don’t have any VPN connections running, etc.

Would be nice if there was some more data on this cause right now it doesn’t work at all.

e: Should note, I’m running PMS 1.19.3.2852 and this issue persists.

I was able to fix this by manually entering the address for my server.
Follow these steps:

In the Playstation 4 app I went to:
the account icon
settings
manual servers
then I entered the IP address for my server on Connection 1 IP. After that it sees my server fine now.

same issue here. i have a plex pass for this purpose. i cant use manual connections cause not on same network. plex needs to fix.

+1 this worked for me too.

I’m having the same issue as the OP. Can play content on iPad and iPhone apps just fine - even externally (using mobile data on iPhone). But I just can’t get the PS4 to access my server in my iMac.

I’m signed into the app - my name appears at the top of the menu. It sees the name of my server (I even renamed that as a test, and the PS4 app picked up the new name), but I’m still getting the “This server is offline or unreachable.” message when I check server status - with the warning triangle.

I’ve also done the same things as many others have… disabled IPv6, tried secure vs unsecure vs prefer secured connections, uninstalled my VPN and antivirus, tried a manual connection, etc. Even tried the nuclear option and removed my server from my account, completely uninstalled the media server app, reinstalled, and re-created the server and my libraries from scratch. No luck.

It’s been about 8 months since this started flaking out. Don’t recall if it happened after a PS4 update or app update, or PMS update around that time period. All are updated now. PMS is version 1.20.3.3483.

Just didn’t want this thread to die. Hope someone has some more ideas to try.

Just started having this issue myself. Was in the middle of playback on my PS4 (on the same network even) and it froze up, crashed, crashed my Playstation and since restarting them both I can’t get the app to connect to my server. Yet somehow it connects to one- but not all- of my friends’ servers I have remote access to. Have tried reinstalling, manually configuring the server, et al. No dice. The web app on my laptop works fine, AppleTV works fine. The Playstation just will not cooperate.

To me, this seems to have coincided with the ‘enable early access’ thing that happened recently with the new Plex update. I’ve tried enabling and disabling it both times I reinstalled the app but nothing changed.
