I recently installed an Amazon echo with Alexa and added the Plex skills, linked to my Plex account. I enabled remote access so that Alexa could find my Plex server. When using the PS4 Plex client, Alexa can use the player and find the videos in the library. However, playback fails with: “Playback error - Content is unavailable”:
Did you get anywhere with this issue. I’ve got the latest PMS to install later on but I haven’t got this to work on my LGTV once.
Exact same error I’m receiving.
Hey BeN_TeK, any joy on this ever. Just got an echo Dot and I’ve got the same problem, I request something to play and it queues it up but I get the Content is Unavailable error every time. Play the same thing with remote and it fails. I’m nut using it on PS4, I’m using Plex Media Player on Windows 10. If I manually play something I can say “Alexa, ask plex to pause” and it does but it also says “uh oh, something went wrong, I’ve alerted the plex team…”.
I’ve got Alexa turning my TV and HT Receiver on with my Harmony hub remote, just got to get it launching Plex MP and playing things on request. My favourite thing so far is I have an electric blanket in bed hooked up to a wemo so when watching tv at night and it’s getting cold I just ask Alexa to turn my electric blanket on so I go to a nice warm bed when my movie/tv is finished.
Same issue on Xbox one. Was working from February to June now get the content not available when requesting movies or uh oh something went wrong when requesting music but the music then plays. Hope someone can help as it was great when it worked.
Same issue with Xbox One. Attempting any video playback on Plex using Alexa with Xbox One results in a playback error message. This used to work great but not anytime recently. If I attempt to launch the content in question manually it plays back fine. It seems like Plex is not setting the video playback path properly when initiated with Alexa.
