Hi,
I have a very strange sound issue. My server runs on a linux machine and when i want to watch a movie with my ps4 I have no sound at first. But when I choose a subtitle file to play with the movie the sound is loud and clear. Not big of a problem since lots of movies have a subtitle file. The thing is when I have a movie without any subtitle file I cannot watch it on my ps4. I have no problems with all other clients in my house (Rasplex, Plex mediaplayer on Mac and Windows).
Does anybody experience the same strange sound issue?

I’ve heard of movies with sound but no video but never video and no sound. 
Subtitles currently causes a full transcode. The files could normally be playing directly or through direct stream.
If you uncheck Direct Stream in the Settings (below your user avatar) does it work like it does when you select subtitles?
Hi there, I have tried tht with no luck.
Another thing i discovered is when i play a movie with a lower transmission rate the sound works perfect but the picture is not that beautiful (it is grainy) as you can imagine.
Lowering your transmission rate should trigger a Transcode. Perhaps you’re actually playing a direct playable file. Please attach the XML media information so we can check it out.
Our setting to disable direct play may not be working correctly which would cause your direct playing video to still show a problem when direct play is disabled.
