PS5 Direct Stream issue

Server Version#: 1.20.5.3600
Player Version#: 5.4.2

I’m curious if anyone else is having trouble with direct stream on the PS5. I encode my files as mkv h265 10 bit. Plex works fine on the PS4 with my files encoded like this. The PS5 though gives me a green, jumbled image. I have to turn off direct stream for them to work on the PS5 but when I do it buffers so bad that my files aren’t watchable. Older formats do work but I’m not using older formats on newer files. It’s super frustrating I can’t unhook my PS4 yet because the PS5 version of plex doesn’t work as well as it does with the PS4.

Bump.

Not being able to use plex on my PS5 is the only thing keeping my PS4 hooked in still. Would love it if someone could look into this issue at some point hopefully sooner than later. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Same problem here with a ps5, bandwitch takes more than 150% than regularly does.

Having similar issue here, H.265 looks terrible on PS5. Have been down-sampling the quality so that it’s transcoded server side rather than doing it PS side. Hopefully this’ll be an easy update fix.

Just wondering if this issue will be looked at or resolved sometime in the near future.

This issue is absolutely awful right now, it sometimes 3-10 seconds starts buffering on direct play and then never gets out of the buffering loop, such a shame. They are releasing new features and I am sure they are separated between dev teams with sprints associated with features, if this issue isn’t a spike in the current sprint THIS NEEDS TO BE… Come on Plex, this a P1 issue!

After the latest updates, buffering issues with direct play are still occurring…

Yep… Unfortunately things haven’t improved for us. It may have on the back end but nothing noticeable for the rest of us. Truly hoping headway is being made to fix this issue. I’m sure it is I’m just super impatient. xP

I’ve been experiencing this as well, and something I noticed is that it appears my PS5 is being seen as my router IP on the Plex Server. If you check your logs are you seeing the same thing?

I’ll take a look in a few and see if it is. Wouldn’t doubt it though.
