PseudoTV

My apologies if this has been addressed, but I cannot seem to figure out how to get the guide XML into Plex. All I seem to be able to do when adding the tuner is include the zip code. Where do I manually add the XML from pseudoTV?

Doesnt it have a. link for the XML path on the next screen after hitting Next?

I was just about to suggest this exact same thing with some minor suggestions.

It would be nice if Plex could allow you to select multiple series to use as atv channel and when watching the channel, it plays through your selected TV / movies in the correct order.

So it would have to keep track of what it has played and when it comes to pick the next episode, it would be a continuation of the series rather than random play of a series of movie.

This way you could create channels to cater for your viewing mood.

It would also be nice to randomly add short parody adverts in-between some episodes and maybe throw in the odd TV or movie trailer to break up your channel broadcast.

However this was suggested in 2015 so I guess this suggestion is dead.

I have so many ideas on how this can be implemented.

I need to work for Plex

Come on
 we want PLEX TV

almost 10 years since this thread was opened and nothing from Plex team. Sad.

I’m not sure about adding parody ads. But yeh I love this idea.

To select a bunch of different series, and have a button “Create my TV station” and it would just start with a s01 ep01 of 1 show, and next s01 ep01 of show #2 etc and when your show selection has played first episode of each selected series, it would proceed with episode #02 of each and so on.

I’ve been thinking of something like this now for a long while, I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one that would enjoy this. Just a shame that almost 10 yrs later, we’re still at square 1.

I have since set up my own TV channels using dizquetv
I can honestly say it’s awesome.
I have comedy channels to classic TV channels all configured the way I like it.

And uses your library as the sources.

This is really something I want natively in Plex.

I would love to see this feature added. All the 3rd party options work but struggle with different codecs.

Ersatz is nice, but it transcodes and eats up resources on a server designed for hosting files so that it buffers every fifteen to twenty seconds. If Plex can just take over creating custom channels with channel numbers, logos, watermarks, schedules, programming blocks, seasonal programming, all without taxing my server, as Plex works now, that would be great

Please look at QuasiTV’s ease of adding media, and Ersatz TV’s abilities to: create custom channels with channel numbers, logos, watermarks, and names; assign media from all libraries to any channel ; set Filler (commercials) to play at chapter marks, as well as before and after a file; set preroll and ‘station ident’ to play at chapter breaks or before a file; set programming blocks, limit ratings or tags to certain times of day (R rated after 10 pm, for example) ; set media to play random, sequential, etc, tv shows (or playlists) to play in order or as marathons. Those are just a few of the things this should be able to do

For a first pass, you could do :
-custom channel names, number, logo
-assign media from all libraries to a channel, and types at times (movies, TV shows)
-schedule a given series at a given time (Jeopardy at 7:30, for example
-set to play on the hour or on the half hour
-set a library as Filler to keep shows on the half hour

Like what Plex currently has, I thought it would be cool if Plex could generate “live tv channels” using your personal media libraries.

You’d have the ability to “tune in” at any given time to a random episode of your favorite comfort show or a sitcom you haven’t watched for a while. Your other users could even watch with you as well as if it was a TV channel.
This could also be done with movies: “movie marathon” channels, like TCM. Could be of a director’s filmography, genre (horror/comedy) or film franchise (this could also be curated by using the movie collections in your library).

Would anyone else use this, theoretically? Do any of you use Plex’s live channels? I find sometimes that “over-abundance of choice” sets in when scrolling thru my library and some of the shows in there could benefit from this haha

about 99% of my use of ChannelsDVR is the virtual channels. I just wish I could customize them more with programming blocks. Example:

  • Only Play selected TV shows during the Hours of X and Y
  • Saturday Morning Cartoons
  • Mature cartoons but only at night - like Toonami

As of now, I have almost 50 virtual channels. When booting up ChannelsDVR they’re marked as favorites ready to go.

Right now, Plex Server is great for allowing people to mimic an experience like Netflix, but sometimes it would be good to have it run a playlist similar to a cable or television station. One example could be a way for parents to set up a playlist of shows to play for children during specific times of the day, or for businesses to have media playing on their televisions in their stores for specific media that they have (similar to music stores playing playlists of music).

My idea is to have a way for those in my house to check out movies or TV shows they normally would not by having them play in rotation. For example, a horror channel that plays horror films, a sci-fi channel to play sci-fi, a classic TV channel to play classic TV episodes.

This option should be restricted just to the internal network, so it won’t be available over the internet, only those apps and browsers which can connect to the same network as the server.

And as a plus, have a schedule similar to what satellite systems have had for years, similar to this grid:

It would allow people to see what is coming up during the day, what channels are available to watch, etc., all programmable by playlists set up by the server admins. And if someone wants to find more information, they can see details in the channel lineup.

That way, parents or others could limit access to the server to watch media only by these channels, and even restrict channels to specific logins.

Just a feature I would really like to see happen with Plex.

+1 from me. i love this idea!

This feature would be great for families for their kids to watch tv and knowing ahead of time that they are NOT watching garbage.
