I know you guys are dead set on the new UI, but can I suggest one little change.
Put “Playlists” a the top level next to “Shows”, "Movies, and “Music” and such.
I’m sure that plenty of users have multiple libraries under each heading. I switch between playlists a lot, and not all of them access the same libraries. As it is now, I have to switch to a different library, possibly under a different media type, then go to playlists…
Being able to see ALL playlists together, and not just the ones that access that one specific library, would be rather helpful.
I 2nd this request.
We have seasonal film+tv playlists (Halloween, Christmas, etc.) and now that they aren’t directly accessible from the top level, I don’t see a pattern of where to find each playlist. Some are under Movies, some are under TV. And since we have multiple TV content libraries (theatrical cartoons, TV, etc.), those playlists are further hidden under a layer.
Now we need to try to remember if a playlist contained any movies, or tv, and from which TV library? That’s too far to dig.
I second that. Top level playlist is an absolute “must” from the user perspective. If the developers want to have playlists combined with individual libraries (for whatever reason), so be it but there should be an ‘umbrella’ playlist button that would let the user know about all available playlists.
This practice of burying the playlists (as well as separating playlist types) makes no sense, as I’ve been trying to get Plex to see, without much success.
I had to come here and read just how to FIND my playlists in the new interface, Plexs playlist features are pretty garbage to begin with so i was worried for a minute they were dropping the feature entirely.
Good to know its still there, but my TV and Roku in the kitchen for example pretty much only play this one playlist, i really dont want to have to dig for it every time instead of “Recent Playlists” being right there.
Plex is the only company I know that is getting worse the more updates they put out, And they are not fixing previous problems.
So now in 2.23 of the PMP (plex media player).
I have a Plex server, the last version according to Plex, its 1.13, so I quit upgrading that, after upgrading and finding that the new version has the same interface as a PMP, which isn’t organized in any logical fashion, so I reverted back to the 1.13. I connect and remote control with my IOS device.via Plex iOS app, I select a playlist, under one of my libraries and select the play button at the top of the playlist, it plays the first movie and now not only does it not queue the rest of the movies up, it is deleting the playslist from the library it was under… So my working versions that do everything PLEX is supposed to do without all of the bugs is 1.13 for server, 2.15 for PMP and I just stopped updating my iOS app in case they break that, so its 5.7 I believe. Plex is too worried about Bloggers and podcasters and is trashing the movie and TV people that make good money, for 18 y.o. idiots without spendable income. WOW what a business model. Oh yeah, I have the lifetime PLEX pass. Guess I’m stuck with this until I do the research and find a company that respects the people that buy the products and does what PLEX did about a year ago.
Plex also broke the ability to remote control a PMP and when “flinging” the currently playing media, it does NOT pause or stop on the original device. PLEX has been getting worse since they went to the new PMP.
I am having trouble finding a Playlist section in my Videos tab. Should there be a section (Hub) such that I could find it in the Settings button at the bottom of the page.
+1 for playlists as a library choice… at least allow it to be added or removed. if people don’t like it they can remove it via customization like the other “libraries”. To me, it makes no sense for playlists to be in a particular library.
