Has anyone succeeded in getting Live TV and DVR functionality working in the UK using a free-to-air aerial? If so, could you please outline what digital tuner(s) you’re using, what additional apps (if any) you’ve installed on your QNAP NAS? Any hints and tips would be really helpful so I can assess whether to embark on this or not! Thanks in advance.
For Plex, the answer really boils down to checking Plex’s DVR Tuner compatibility list. https://support.plex.tv/articles/225877427-supported-dvr-tuners-and-antennas/
HD Homeruns are the easiest option such as the HD Connect or HD Extend. I assume they have UK equivalent versions. I would go with the UK version of the Extend though due to the limited cpu on the 453Pro you likely would benefit from the built-in transcoding of the Extend.
Thanks MwC_Trexx. Unfortunately the Extend model is not available in the UK - just the Connect (+Duo +Quattro). Would they be OK? Am I right to assume I just plug this into my network and attach a digital aerial source? Do I need to use/purchase any HD Homerun software to make this work, or is this handled by Plex itself? I’ve read through the forums and haven’t found an explanation for this; if I’ve missed it, please just send me the link. Thanks again.
One question I have, as q-nap no longer list compatible tv tuners, or support their own tv tuner app - with a plex compatible tv tuner work with the q-nap box (I have a 453 pro)
Plex supports the LAN-based network tuners (e.g. the Silicon Dust products)
A quick search at the Support page shows:

Yes you connect HD Homerun to you network and an antenna to it. SiliconDust does do periodic firmware updates for the tuners so good idea to update that when you get it.
As for Plex, you just have it search for the tuner and it walks you through the rest.
Just a note though PlexPass is required to use the DVR functions.
Hi,
Did you get one?
I have a TS-453Bmini and have live TV running well with HDHomeRun Connect.
My internet and TV is with BT and the Connect just plugs into my aerial socket (and BT router).
