QNAP 453BE Transcode Crash

They will be able to fix it. You’ll be without a server while they undo what has been done.

Thank you for your support and reassurance.

Future advice?

Don’t update BIOS / UEFI unless it fixes a specific problem being encountered.

“Updating just because I can” is always illadvised

Lesson learned. And thanks for the advice.

Update: So I got the server back, everything continued after a few issues with qufirewall which I fixed.

It’s still crashing and qnap is suggesting to reinitialize the server. I’m very against that because I have close to 30tb of data I’d have to re-download and thats annoying.

I’ve disabled the HDR tone mapping to see if that maybe is causing issues

You have 30 TB of data that is not backed up? :scream:

its backed up in gdrive, its just a pain.

Do you mean a cloud internet backup g-drive or a local physical HDD at your house?

Cloud.

It appears turning off automatically adjust quality was the fix. Atleast so far. I usually crash every 3 days and I’m on day 6 with no issue.

I stand corrected. The crashes still happened, so I did what QNAP suggested and completely reset my server. Set everything back up, it crashed, sent my NAS servers and they said yet again its a Plex related crash.

Prior to grabbing logs from plex is there anything specific I need to grab or turn on, or just go in and download and post?

@ChuckPa any suggestions?

May I see the DEBUG logs please of what’s happening?

(important to see after each change)

So when I download the logs, I don’t specifically see one that states debug? When I go to the debug section of settings of plex its like one page of information, is that it that your looking for?

@zacky

  1. Settings - Server - General - Show Advanced
  2. Check the box for DEBUG logging
  3. UNcheck the box for VERBOSE logging
  4. SAVE if changes made.

Now (re) create issue

Settings - Server - Troubleshooting - Download Logs

Attach ZIP file please.

(DEBUG logging info will be in the ZIP file)

Ok perfect, that was already turned on so now I’m just waiting for it to crash again and then I’ll upload the logs once that happens.

Plex Media Server Logs_2021-07-15_19-56-47.zip (3.3 MB)

Good evening,

So the crash happened today, i got 23 Days without a crash this time around.

Attached are zipped log files.

Not sure what it could be.

I don’t see any server faults.
There are no transcoder errors anywhere/

I just see the player stop.

The best I can suggest is to turn on the player remote debug logs and, next time it stops, grab those logs.

They can be given to the playback app team to look at.

Ok I’ll do that, where would i go to turn that on?
