QNAP Hardware transcoding fro PLEX

not showing up on my TS-251, even after restarting the nas.
What nas do you have @dsp5500 ?

`chmod 0770 /dev/dri/renderD128`

chmod: /dev/dri/renderD128: No such file or directory

chmod 0770 /dev/dri/controlD64
chmod 0770 /dev/dri/card0

worked fine.

I’m on QTS 4.2.2 20161214

Check my Signature, both running 4.3 Beta

I’seen this, but thought you did something else cause there is a qpkg for QTS 4.2.2
did you get a error when executing chmod 0770 /dev/dri/renderD128 ?

There is no renderD128 with 4.2.2. I think we’ll need to upgrade to 4.3 but I’m not willing to do that just yet.

I got no error entering those commands but it also didn’t change to 770 so I haven’t bothered with it since. As far as I can tell I have Hardware Transcoding enabled without them.

32bit Systems not supported, thats why HWT is only available on QTS 4.3.x …

Hardware transcoding is not available in the 32-bit Linux packages. If your system has a 64-bit kernel, try the 64-bit package. If no such package is available yet, bug me. If you don’t have a 64-bit kernel, bug your NAS vendor

waiting for the beta to be a little more stable…

I have the TS-251 and I’m on the latest 4.3 beta with updated Plex 64bit pkg and I don’t see the enable hardware transcoding option. Note: I am not a Plex Pass member.

@rprzlopez :

HW Transcoding is in preview as of now, and is a Plex Pass only thing

Thanks, @dane22 . I’ve been on the fence about getting a pass. Can you comment on this feature? Does it work well for remote use? I also have a Vizio smart tv that can’t playback iPhone videos.

Std. answer would be here:

Better answer would be here:

And then adding my personal view on this:

Plex is a company, with people hired to do development.
But Plex has to make some earnings in order to pay people for this development!

As such, and since I use Plex daily, I opted for a Plex Pass even before the needs provided by a Plex Pass was needed

@dane22 , sorry for not being clear. I was speaking about the hardware transcoding feature…

Sadly haven’t tested HW Acc. yet.

Doing DVR testing at the moment, and that’s another branch of PMS

So, I purchased the lifetime Plex Pass. I enabled hardware acceleration but I still can’t play videos created by iPhone on Vizio smart tv on my local network nor can I play them remotely on my iPhone. Does anyone have any suggestions? If I’m not posting in the proper place, please let me know.

PMS Logs in debug mode please

@dane22 , I would love to get the logs to you but have now idea how to do so. I tried following your directions but it’s all greek to me. I’m a new Mac user, can you point me in the right direction?

Plex Web.Client

Settings/Server/Help

Thanks, @dane22 . I hope this is it.

It’s not. You uploaded the Web.Client log

In the WebClient, select settings.
Select the server tab
Select help
Press download logs
Upload zip here

got it. here you go…

@dane22 were you able to take a look?

Hi,

I have the same problem.
Latest QTS-4.3.2 beta and latest Plex 1.3.3 64bit version installed.
But I cannot find the checkbox for the experimental feature and I am a Plex Pass member.

I´m using a QNAP TS-253a

Strange :frowning:
