QNAP NAS cannot find Plex Media Server

I have a QNAP 451+ NAS hosting PMS and I am still unable to detect my server after trying every forum posted option. I’ve deleted the Preferences.xml and restarted the server, I’ve tried new Plex accounts, I’ve done all the logout/login posts and tutorials and I’m still stuck. I have one other option that MAY be the problem and its my home network setup.

I would post my logs but my Public Static IP is everywhere in there so I’m going to just describe my setup.

With how my home network is setup (I have ATT Fiber and I’m using their TERRIBLE gateway) I have my gateway set up assigning the subnet (my router and my NAS) as two separate IPs from my static block. This was the only way I was able to access my NAS and router remotely. Trust me I’ve tried everything with static routing, NAT, and port forwarding but that gateways is extremely limited in it’s capabilities. I’m not here for advice on my network setup. My NAS is one of those static IPs in the gateways subnet. When Plex starts it resolves as that static IP address in the logs along with it’s loopback. Is there an issue with the PMS localhost IP being a public static? Would it work better if I had a NATed virtual switch on my gateway assigning Plex a Class C IP? I know this may be a QNAP forum question but I mainly want to know here if I can have a public IP address be the localhost IP for PMS.

I did see chuckpa post something in a forum saying

" Presuming all this is correct AND presuming your subnet is defined as RFC 1918 (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, 172.16.x.x->172.31.x.x) ."

If this is not the problem then I’m open to trying any more solutions because I’ve done every link in google pages 1-3 and as we all know, if it’s not on the first page of google it might as well not even exist hahaha.

One other thing, I’ve set up Plex on a RasPi before and I remember the Preferences.xml file had a ton more information in it, to include my login information. However this Preferences.xml only has a couple values and there’s no sign of an authentication value, is that in a separate file?

Thanks in advance!

Which version of Plex do you have installed? What version of QTS? How many NW connections are cabled on your QNAP? More basic information is needed.
