Qnap > Qnap (PMS)

Hi I’m just finalizing the last steps of migrating from a trusty 8 year-old Qnap to a newer model with new drives. This is my primary data backup, but I also run PMS on it.

I’m migrated my media, installed Plex, and also copied the Plex system data in (believed that worked well, but have not tested it yet).

That’s as far as I got.

I’m assuming the final step in the handoff is to sign into plex and then reconnect all my devices manually? …Or maybe the copy of the system data eliminated the need to reconnect the devices?

I guess I’m just wondering how to do the final step in the handoff to the new system.

The only thing that should be different are the last two digits of the IP address.

As long as your clients are signed into your account, there’s not much of a handoff needed. Especially if you’re actually migrating your old server and not setting up a new one.
With a new server, your client apps will need to pin the new server’s libraries anew. With a migrates server, the migrates libraries should simply keep the original server’s libraries place.
