QNAP TS-251 - Plex won't open

I have a new QNAP TS-251. I installed the Plex app from QNAP and it started up but I couldn’t save any of my library folders. I checked on some forums who advised me to reinstall the Plex app from QNAP which I did. However now when I click on the Plex app on the QNAP desktop a new tab opens up but Plex doesn’t start. I have gone to the Plex site and installed the latest app in case the QNAP was out of date but this hasn’t worked either. Plex works fine accessing the media on my PC but will not find the QNAP anymore. Grateful for advice, I have very little technical experience but simply want to see my photos and music on all my devices. Thanks.

Since this is a new install probably the best is to remove the Plex Server app from your QNAP. For a complete cleanup I would suggest to install WINSCP in you PC and then check if /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg contains a PlexMediaServer folder (if the app remove did not remove it than you should do it using WINSCP).

Then you should check which QTS version you are using. For QTS 4.2.x (or earlier) you need to install Plex Media Server (PMS) 32-bit. For 4.3.x you need PMS 64-bit.

Once it’s installed, you need to access PMS from the same LAN (usin http and not https) and define your libraries. Please note that you should specify the path for your media as /share/Photos instead of /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/Photos (this is because there is a bug in QTS that sometimes preventes the access, so better to be of the “safe side” on this one). The same applies for Music and other media types.

Hi all, my TS-251+ with the newest version has plex (newest version) installed on the latetst firmware. When I open the plex app on the start screen it says looking for server and that is it. Nothing else happens.
Can anyone give me some advice because Qnap’s helpdesk can not?
The server is on the same LAN and my PC and I login op de server by using the Qfind.
