Qnap TS-473A + Nvidia Quadro P400 = No Hardware Transcoding?

Hi all,
I’ve got a TS473A NAS with nvidia quadro gpu inside.
Nvidia drivers are installed and it’s in QTS mode as needed.
Transcoding works just fine with videostation and such, but Plex refuses to use my GPU.
I’ve got all the settings for plex enabled (ie use hardware encoding when available etc).
I tried editing preferences.xml and added HardwareDevicePath=“/dev/dri/renderD128”, didn’t help either.

What am I doing wrong? I’ve got a plex pass too so it should work really.

SSH into the QNAP and look at /dev/dri.
If you have both renderD128 and renderD129, the Nvidia is usually renderD129
because the AMD has it’s own GPU which enumerates to renderD128

Hiya, only had D128 in there. Actually the encoding started working today  I wonder if its because I uninstalled the latest version of Plex and installed the older one from Qnap App store instead

HDR transcoding being enabled will break transcoding on QNAP (or Synology or anything else – as of PMS 1.28.1.

It is a known problem

It’s a good idea to keep a known-working QPKG file around for these reasons.

The App Center version is ancient and has its own issues but at least you’ve go trancsoding again
