Just set up a new Qnap TS-673A with h5.0.0.1986 firmware and an Nvidia GTX-1650 for my PLEX Server and I cannot get the hardware transcoding to work. I have the Nvidia GPU driver version 5.0.4.1 installed and set to QTS mode in the hardware resources page.
Not sure what else to do to get it to use the GPU for transcoding. Never had issues when using Windows. First time trying a Qnap NAS for this.
Not sure exactly how I got it working but I enabled the admin account and went in and gave that account read-write access to everything, changed the password.
I also stopped the PLEX server for a couple minutes and restarted it and like magic, it started to work like it’s supposed to.
Case closed I guess.
After you install the card, if you install the drivers while PMS is running, it won’t know to use it.
The startup routine looks to find the card then checks for the drivers and QTS mode.
When all 3 are present then it passes that information to PMS so it knows there is a Nvidia GPU card available.
