The ads on Plex are something else. Feels like 50/50 with content.
Honestly, there are other streaming services that I’m paying for, so I’m not limited to Plex. I use Plex to host my own content for friends and family to stream primarily.
I was intrigued with Plex’s new On Plex services, so I decided to give it a shot, and boy were the constant ads annoying.
They were too frequent and too long.
It ruined the experience.
The ads wouldn’t be so abrasive if they were more varied and less frequent.
I’ve had Plex Pass for an extremely long time. It would be nice to be rewarded with less advertising.
In Australia, most prime time ads are only 15 seconds long, and at most we get 3 to 4 ads every 15 minutes on commercial television.
Ads on Plex are just too much to suffer through.

Agree, this is a massive problem. The plex promo adverts being so much louder than the content, having to turn down the adverts everyone, and the same 3 plex promos on repeat every time…
Let’s split this up.
There’s an existing suggestion focusing on the volume of the ads. I suggest you vote/comment on that in the other thread. Instead use this one to address the frequency of ads.
OMG trying to watch something and get 8 of the same ads in a row PatPat Cute Clothes PatPat quality clothes and so on 8 times in a row. Now I just mute them as this inane crap was driving me nuts. I don’t even know if these ads are relevant and products and services advertised are available my country. It reminds me why I stopped watching live television years ago.
Looks like this has been brought up and ignored. I tried to watch a movie on Plex last night, I got the same ad 4 times in a row and vowed never to buy any of Passage to Indias food. The Ads also crashed the app on my Sony Tv multiple times, I had to restart the movie from the beginning and fast forward.
Just wanted to note that the same ad playing multiple times in a row isn’t unique to Plex’s streaming content. I’ve had the same experience across multiple live streaming services including AT&T, Spectrum, and TV Anywhere.
My theory is that the ad targeting requirements and lack of advertisers in general is why it’s so common. Regular local broadcasts have the advantage of local advertisers to fill out the spots.
Another thing to keep in mind regarding the total ad runtime is that it’s pretty typical to get about 7-8 minutes of advertisements per 30 minutes of content. Not sure about Plex specifically, but as long as they aren’t pushing more than that I don’t really see an issue personally.
Yeah completely turned me off watching any of it as it’s too much. Too often, too many ads in a row. I know they have to make some money from advertising but this is horrendous. I haven’t watched anything since my last comment.
Too many ads, very repetitive and inserted at inconvenient points in the movie. My first time using this service and will be my last. Makes films unwatchable. Would rather pay to rent the movie on another service.
After trying to watch the Drew Carey show which just came to Plex, the time between ads has become become frustrating (Sometimes as little as 4 to 5 minutes in between with a 2 to 3 minute ad break). I understand the need to have ads, but it would be great if we could merge the frequency of ads to be less frequent in nature while still being able to watch the show for free. Perhaps an option to watch all ads upfront before watching the episode in its entirety?
This is EXACTLY why I stopped using any of the non-local services. I used to love some of the live TV channels. But it got absolutely unwatchable. The Boat channel for example, you are LUCKY to have 5 minutes of show before s 2-3 min break, 50% of the time it’s just annoying music with a looping “The BOAT Show Will Be Right Back”, the other times it’s the same commercial repeating. Whoever thought any of that was a good idea should be fired. Exact same with the Poker channel and others I used to enjoy.
