Question about Plex company longevity

With the firing of the player dev team, I am concerned about the longevity of the Plex company in general. At first I told myself that if Plex went bankrupt and all their servers went dark, it would not effect me and my installed server, but after Reddit users told me otherwise, it seems the authentication would basically make my install non-functional as playback on my LAN would stop working.

Would there be any work around to keep our installed Plex servers functional in a case like this, or would we simply have to abandon Plex and switch to some other software option like JellyFin, etc…?

If the company shuts down there is no obvious easy way to keep our servers running due to the authentication requirements.

The community might figure something out, but there are no guarantees.

I would hope that if that happens the company would give us a hand unlocking things before they turn off the lights, but we can’t count on that.
