PLEX agents and scanners still work if PLEX's servers are down

Let’s say at some point in the future, PLEX Inc goes away. There are several things that would stop. For instance remote users would not be able to authenticate so I’m assuming that functionality would end. But after my internet went out last night and I was still able to locally stream to my AppleTv box, I was wondering about something else. If the internet was up but the PLEX Inc servers were down, would I still be able to add media and would the Plex scanners and agents work? Is that functionality local to my server or does it require database hits to the main servers at PLEX?
I can easily test what happens if my internet goes down, but I can’t test what happens if PLEX goes down. Anyone have any ideas?

Yeah, it kind of looks that way. The AppleTV box has to authenticate through that server so it would go down.

So everything worked last night because AppleTV signin was cached. But other than that, pretty much nothing works if PLEX corp servers die. Thanks.

You could theoretically test it if you block all traffic towards Plex servers. If they use DNS, then change hosts file and direct everything to localhost for this time and if some are not using DNS, then block outgoing traffic to those IPs in firewall.
