First, is there a definitive list of voice commands that Plexamp supports in Android Auto/Google Assistant?
I am trying to move away from YouTube Music and use Plexamp exclusively, but the behaviours are not exactly 1:1. I am not a playlist person, and I really like YTM’s algorithm when I tell it to “play music” or “play {title of song} [by {artist}].” In either situation it starts a radio of sonically similar songs. In Plexamp the other day, I asked it to play A Forest by The Cure, and instead of moving on to sonically similar songs by other artists, it only played music by The Cure. Definitely not the expected behaviour!
I’ve also been enjoying the Sonic Adventure feature a lot to discover unknown and forgotten tracks in my library. It would be really great if I could use voice activation to trigger a Sonic Adventure.
This is why I am asking if there’s a definitive list of commands that are supported, maybe I just don’t know the right phrases yet for Plexamp. If not, these are the behaviours I’d like to see supported:
play music : start a sonically similar radio of random tracks and my most played tracks (this would self-improve over time as Plex/Plexamp collects statistics), each time the “play music” command is issued, a fresh playlist is generated.
play [song] {song name} [by {artist name}] : start a radio with sonically similar tracks
play [artist] {artist name} : start a randomized playlist with only the named artist
start a sonic adventure :
- prompt: “what song or artist would you like to start with”
- prompt: “what song or artist would you like to end with”
- build and execute sonic adventure
change DJ :
- prompt: “which DJ would you like?”
- i can either name a DJ or ask for a list of options, “what are my [DJ] options?”
Note: [ ] notes an optional word/phrase
I think these commands would enable me to fully use Plexamp hands-free which is a requirement for any driving app.
