RAM Usage 100%

Server Version#: 1.41.9.9961
Player Version#: N/A
For a while (2+ weeks) no matter the version of Plex Media server, RAM usage has been out of control. It will reach 100% with in a day or less. When this happens, direct play videos generally work but if it has to transcode videos, it comes up with an error that it cannot play the video or sometimes it just bogs down the server completely where I can’t log into it via RDP at all. It will sometimes just crash and restart as whole. It is very sporadic in what it will do to try and recover.

It also seems to hit this high amount of usage when nothing appears to be happening (i.e. scanning media, playing media, etc…).

Is anyone else experiencing this as well? It is really annoying when it happens a couple of times a day when other times it is just a few days in between.

If you need logs, I would be more than happy to provide them.

Is the Plex DLNA server enabled? If so, disable it and restart Plex Media Server.

Also, if you are comfortable editing the Windows Registry, configure Plex to log memory usage. See Advanced, Hidden Server Settings.

Unfortunately, DLNA is already disabled.

Then add the LogMemoryUse registry entry.

Also, check that Plex is configured for Debug, not verbose, server logs.
Settings > Server_Name > General + Show Advanced.

Restart Plex after making the changes.

When memory usage starts to climb, pull log files (settings → troubleshooting) and post the zip file to the thread.

Hopefully that will show what is using the memory.
