Random infinite buffering on specific movies

Server Version#: 1.32.5.7349
Player Version#: Plex for Samsung 5.66.4

I have a very strange behavoir and I cant solve it.

I run Plex Media Server on my Synology Nas and in the local Network I watch my movies with the Plex App on my Samsung TV. See above the version numbers.

Since some weeks, all of a sudden, for a very few movies during watching them, it just stops in the middle of the movie (it appears the buffer symbol) and it will just not continue to play.
If I fast forward for some minutes, it will play for approx. 5 seconds and then the buffer sign appears again.

When I watch the same movie in Plex Web or mobile, with the same user, this issue does not appear! The raw file has no issue as well.

So it really seems its related to the TV, but after reinstalling, clearing cache, the issue for the same movies is still there. Always at the same timestamp.

This happens for maybe 3% of my movies, with the rest I have no issue.

There is no transcoding happening , I watch the movies in the original format.

Has someone an idea why this happens / what I can do? It really makes no sense for me.

I have something similar on my Samsung TV when subtitles are enabled and audio is transcoded. When I disable subtitles then infinite buffering doesn’t happen.

wow it really seem that this was the problem.
Tested it on one of this “corrupted” movies and it worked.
Have to check it for the other ones as well.
Thank you verey much!

Yeah but it doesn’t really solve the problem, we use subtitles for a reason. So it should be fixed by devs but will not be probably :frowning:

I agree

I always have the movies an the language that I need.
But yes, sometimes it has some forced subtitles for some scenes in the movie. Then I need it as well.
But at least I found the root cause, but yes, should be fixed by the devs…
