Hi all!
This is the first time I’ve posted or really been on the forums in my 4 years of being a PlexPass member, so sorry if I make any mistakes in posting.
I’ve recently started having some seemingly random errors when trying to stream from my Plex Media Server. Multiple Roku devices are experiencing the issue, but I don’t know if it’s actually related to the Roku or not (it’s the only client type I stream from). I’m not able to reliably reproduce the errors, unfortunately, but I’m hoping to get some insight into what the issue might be.
PMS Setup##
- OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Professional
- Plex Media Server Version: 1.8.0.4109
- CPU: Dual Xeon X5650
- RAM: 48GB
Occasionally, while trying to stream (or in the middle of a steam) the Roku will display the following
text: Playback has stopped due to multiple playback errors. Please check your connection and try again title: Unknown Network Error
Additionally, from the Roku
An unexpected problem (but not server timeout or HTTP error) has been detected
In the Plex Media Server logs I found the following at the same time as the errors within the Roku logs. It looks like it repeats a number of times about not being able to find a transcoded segment (log attached) and an example of the error below
ERROR - Couldn't find the file to stream: C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Local\Plex Media Server\Cache\Transcode\Sessions\plex-transcode-b943d9f89b21b91a138423b926bf7a60-607332b0-45c2-4a41-b6f1-6ba5a706bceb\media-00039.ts
Looking for the file above in the file system is successful, and the file is currently in the directory. So I’m not sure if it showed up after Plex had tried to access it or what.
I’m thinking the playback is failing because of the errors in the log…but I’m not sure what I can do to confirm it since I can reproduce it using the same video file or what I need to look at to prevent it from stopping playback on the Roku.
Any tips or ideas on what to check, try, or look for?
Thanks!
