Hi all,
I have a problem with playback in PHT that I just can’t seem to fix
See specs below, but I’ve been using PHT and PMS for over a year without problems, this has just started.
While playing a video, at random intervals there is stutter, which lasts about 30 seconds. It’s quite regular and appears to pause for 0.25 seconds and continue. However, the “dropped frames” under diagnostic information shows that NO frames have been dropped. The audio doesn’t break - it’s just the video. If I rewind the video and play the same scene again, it plays back normally with no judder, so I don’t think it’s the video itself.
The CPU usage never goes above about 5% when using DXVA decoding and when that’s disabled, it never goes above about 30% (as I expect - the CPU is plenty fast enough to decode even high bit rate 1080p videos).
I use DTS and AC3 passthrough but one of the videos is 2.0 PCM. Never had a problem with audio before and works flawlessly.
I’ve tried:
- disable/enable DXVA2 decoding
- Reinstall Intel graphics drivers
- Disabled all Intel video processing (e.g. smoothing etc)
- Reinstalled audio drivers
I’ve looked at the logs, but I can’t see anything strange there - but I’m not nearly experienced enough to understand fully what I’m looking at.
The same videos play with no problem in VLC over the network from the same server.
I’ve attached the MediaInfo for a couple of files that exhibit this behaviour, as well as the full log of PMS and PHT for the periods when I saw a problem - I noticed the issues happening at:
- 20:00
- 20:40
- 21:28
but I can’t see anything in the log that seems like it would cause this.
Any help VERY gratefully received!
Nick
