Nope! Same GPU, so only 4K at 15fps.
Regards
But higher Mhz but i guess this wont help at all, right?
Can we use it as a server ? With transcoding to iPad or Ps4.
Not true passthrough, but given that HD audio and PCM are both lossless, it’s still bit-perfect audio. If you really want to see “DTS-HD” on your receiver display, I guess this is a problem. Otherwise, there is no loss in audio quality.
Excited to see the results!

If you have turned off the LEDs (which I have) then it makes no difference!
Hi Ned! Can you share your settings to turn off the leds? It would interest me greatly!
Thanks ![]()
Do you think it will be powerful enough to support subtitles when running as a Plex server?

Add the following to autostart.sh in /storage/.config
(echo 0 >/sys/class/leds/led1/brightness)&
If you don’t have an autostart.sh use nano to create one and enter the following:
#!/bin/bash
(echo 0 >/sys/class/leds/led1/brightness)&

As I said earlier this is the Rasplex section, please ask server questions here https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/145717/i-have-pms-running-on-raspberry-pi-2#latest

Thanks @HTP.ProXy and @NedtheNerd !

There is no 4K support as it cant decode native h265.
If you want that you have to go for a Odroid C2, but thats just lipservice, its only scaled and the performance is very poor.
Here is a german article, maybe google translate can help you out:

Just to clear it up, because i read this a lot.
Plex Media Server - is a SERVER that hosts, transcodes and streams video/audio files
RasPlex - is a CLIENT to connect to a PMS (Plex Media Server) and to view content
BOTH are available just as standalone tools for windows etc. and as well as “kinda like operating system versions” including in this case, a “system on microSD” solution for the Raspberry Pi.
This thread is about compability for RasPlex and Raspberry PI version 3, which has been available since today.

I assume it can based on Ars, but not at 4K resolution:
The new Pi also gains H.265 support for the first time but is limited to 1080p at 30fps
RasPlex 1.0.2 - did not boot directly on Pi 3.
Windows 10 IoT Core (insider version)- booted perfect ( no wifi / bluetooth).
Plex Media Player (current version) - did not boot on Pi 3.
“RasPlex 1.0.2 - did not boot directly on Pi 3.”
Same here
I have tried 1.0.1 as well - no dice.
Any luck Ned? I assume this’ll make it 3/3 didn’t work
The upcoming 1.0.3 release (any day now) will run on a Raspberry Pi 3, playing video works and navigation is a little bit faster, still need to confirm that wifi/bluetooth is working correctly.
I noticed the benchmarks here:
blog.pimoroni.com/raspberry-pi-3/
It seems to be more power hungry and hotter than the Pi2, although not much so at idle. For someone who leaves it on 24/7 this is an important factor. Although that being said, if I had a USB wireless dongle in my Pi2, it would probably be closer.
I’d love to hear some feedback from Pi3 owners once they get them. Videos certainly can’t play any “faster” so the only reason to get a Pi3 would be if the menus were significantly faster & more responsive. I’d love to see some evaluations of that.
@Kwiboo : looking forward to it. RasPlex 1.0.2 didn’t boot here either.
Running now OpenElec to test:
but I’ll post that on other forums and will wait till the new version of rasplex.
