Raspberry Pi 4 als Plex Client

Hallo Leute,

ich nutze zur Zeit einen Odroid C2 als Plex Client und bin super zufrieden.

Allerdings benötige ich einen zusätzlichen Client und bin da über den Pi4 gestolpert.

Hat jemand den Pi4 in Verbindung mit Rasplex in Betrieb und kann berichten?

Das Projekt Rasplex ist ziemlich tot und andere alternativen laufen glaub noch nicht auf dem Pi4, sprich Libre/CoreElec mit Plex Plugin.
Das wird aber nicht lange dauern, bis diese portiert werden.

das ist ja schade, der Rasplex Client läuft einwandfrei und spielt bei mir auch alles brav in 4K…

Stimmt ich fand den auch immer gut, dem Entwickler wird aber wohl die Zeit/das Interesse ausgegangen sein. Ist immer problematisch bei diesen Kleinprojekten.

Lässt sich plex auf Libre/Corelec genauso easy einrichten wie rasplex? Da musste ich ja nur ein Image auf die SD Card kopieren und ab gehts.

Libre/CoreElec stellt Kodi bereit, das geht so einfach wie rasplex. Dort installierst du dann das Plex Plugin.

Ich glaub dann probiere ich das einfach mal aus und bestelle noch einen Odroid.

Ich habe auch einen C2 und habe ihn wieder ausgemustert weil leider Ton und Bild immer asynchron waren. Manuelle Anpassung von 300ms war auch nicht so wirklich toll. Welchen Client benutzt du denn für den C2? Ich hatte Rasplex und das Problem ist bekannt, wurde aber nie gefixed…

Also ich hab mit Ton keine Probleme. Der C2 rennt vom ersten Tag an. Hängt sich zwar einmal im Monat auf so das ich einmal Strom ziehe aber sonst alles top. Welche Clients nutzt ihr?
Ich hab sonst nix gefunden was 24p sauber spielt inkl. aller tonformste und 4K.

I purchased a pi4 in hopes of having it be my client.

It does not work well… yet.

It can support 4K HEVC stuff fine, but H.264 4k stuff will not work at all. It also does not support HDR until a kernel firmware update…

With all this being said, you CAN get a pi4, and load on LibreELEC with the latest Kodi 18, that all works with the PI4, pretty much out of the box. You can do some minor changes, and then install the official Plex add on for Kodi. Set up direct play and hardware acceleration and you will be well on your way.

I do plan to use my Pi 4’s once the software is more supported. I’m currently trying to see if I can get a stripped windows IOT OS on them, then run the windows Plex media player app on top of that… Can report once I have an update.
