Hi,
I read a lot on the forum about installing a Plex client on a Raspberry Pi, with HDMI CEC it will be great.
I also read that PleXBMC isn’t usable anymore with the last Plex Media Server.
The idea of the topic is to propose a solution for Raspberry as Plex Client :
The Raspberry is a great thing, the module HDMI_CEC is a great thing in XBMC to control your raspberry with your TV remote, so let’s make a plex client on raspberry Pi !
I the team agrees I’m ready to buy a plex pass if this would be officialy supported… Who wants to support this idea and who’s ready to buy Plex pass ?
Yep. Basically lack of Plex for the Pi is holding me back from buying a PlexPass.
The Pi is so good, and I need to separate my client and server. If Plex doesn’t come up with a client soon I will have to consider moving to XMBC totally to get the Pi working.
Nope - it fully working. There was an issue with remote connectivity (I.e. a media server not on the local network) but this was fixed a day or two after the media server release.
Just wanted to also express my desire for a full Raspberry Pi client. Now that I have plex installed and running in my environment with my iOS clients, the only remaining piece of the puzzle is to use the Raspberry Pi’s I bought as media centers in my environment. The Pi is ideal for such a task, and this is also currently the only thing holding me back from purchasing a PlexPass.
There are a few people working on a plex client for the pi. It’s being discussed here. It’s in the early stages, but you can try it out. It really needs it’s own thread, though.
I have been following that thread as well, but I think those in this thread are hoping for a fully featured client, and not a headless one, though it is a good sign that some work is being done on this.
Before I start chasing my tail, do you mean to say that the plugin "IS" working on the pi, or just in general? I could have sworn I had it running on one a couple months ago, but now for the life of me I can't get it to play anything.
Hi,
I am also interested in this. Shouldn’t it be possible to install Plex to a Raspberry PI with fedora running? I mean, raspberry seems to be fedora compatible and there is a 32 bit and 64 bit Version ( no idea what raspberry is actually running on ) of Plex available for Fedora. So despite a possible lack of HDMI-CEC in the first place, it should be possible to get plex at least running, right?
Raspberry Pi in not compatible with any other Linux os as far as my understanding goes. And I am also waiting for plex to bring their media server app to the Raspberry Pi, holding off on Plex Pass until then.

Don’t know, what kind of ‘Remix’ this is, but it seems to be a fedora distribution… Unfortunatelly, I do not own a raspberry pi yet, to test this…,
The current Plex Home Theater builds are only for intel CPUs. So they won’t install on ras pi as its arm based. Fedora remix is a rebuilt version of fedora for arm built for the pi. As of fedora 17, redhat started making arm releases, but none for the pi yet. Even with fedora 18 just out there is no pi version apart from the remixes. But until then, lets hope plex eventually ends up on the pi in the future. And if you guys still want fedora RPM’s by then, I’ll bake you some.

I have a Plex server installed on my ubuntu linux pc. I just got my Raspberry Pi and installed Raspbmc on a spare sd card. I connected to my plex servers movies and videos with upnp on the Raspbmc and can watch all of my stuff. It is working good so far. Would be nice to have it all Plex though.
