I am going to purchase a Raspberry Pi 4B in order to create a headless Plexamp. I am going to add a hifiberry digi+ to get an optical output.
Before I order, I would like to know how much RAM is required on the Raspberry Pi, as they come in varying amounts (1, 2, 4 and 8 GB).
Thanks
Geoff

2 or 4 would be best; the more the better, especially if you plan to use it as a Plexamp Mesh node (multi-room).
Considering that you cannot upgrade the RAM later, I’d go for the highest amount, if the budget allows it.
You might want to use something like https://ropieee.org/xl/ for greater flexibility.
If you want to use it for plexamp alone, there is a neat install script here: install and set up Plexamp headless on Raspberry Pi · GitHub
Thanks for the advice. The multi-room capability sounds interesting. I’ve never seen that elsewhere. Is there more information somewhere?
I will go for the 4gb and see how it goes.
I’m a bit of a newbie to this but have seen plenty of instructions to follow.
Best Wishes
Geoff
