Raspberry Pi

about remote control I think the best solution should be using flirc ( http://flirc.tv) and the original apple remote.

I have a question, will it play blu-ray 1080p? 30-40mbit?

Seriously Dale, every time I wake up there's something new going on!

I have an hour or so before work so I'm downloading and having a bit of a look now, as your blog post suggests, getting rid of the slideshow on the homescreen might be an idea. I think I'm going to be a little more delicate than before and add an 'optimise' Plex switch in the settings. Something people can turn on if they want the boost and that could possibly be added to the main branch for people with slower hardware.

But really, GREAT work!

http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Apple_remote I think apple remote can be used natively without flirc. Need to investigate this.

Hi Dale

Testing out this latest image and after a few minutes after executing 'sudo plexht' I receive the following errors

StdString: Assertion Failed on line 880<br />
StdString: Assertion Failed on line 881

It seems like the process might have hung as it's still running after 15 minutes or so (and my display is black). I'll give it some more time and see if it loads

Did you copy the advanced settings.xml then reboot?

cp /usr/local/share/XBMC/userdata/advancedsettings.xml /root/.plexht/userdata

Thanks for the reply! I'm just trying that now but I can't see advancedsettings.xml in that directory (I get file not found when trying to copy it). Could it be located elsewhere?

Edit: found that I had the wrong path (dale's blog mentions /usr/local/share/XBMC/advancedsettings.xml). Thanks for your help!

Look what turned up in the post this morning.

Sandisk Extreme 16GB USB 3.0,

That’s a test @ USB 2.0, it’s the fastest USB stick I have EVER seen.

Wow that looks even more responsive that it did for me!!!

Did you leave it open for a while to cache thumbnails? It looks like on deck loaded really fast.

Would it be possible to download via github or a binary? I’ve got only one SD card, it’s 16gb with a lot of other stuff on it that I want run along-side Plex.

Good work on this port btw

I notice your gui is drawing properly : / did you modify any of the settings? By properly, I mean that there are black backdrops on the text.

Nevermind I see you are using a different skin. Very cool!

Hi Dale,

Awesome job. Tested this out last night! Any plans on adding some of the wifi adapter drivers like Raspbmc?

Finally got the time to test this and it’s amazing! Awesome work guys. Just watched a complete episode without any big problems. Ui related bugs/flaws will be fixed I hope, but that doesn’t take away how awesome this is!

I was just wondering, when would we be able to do

<br />
$ Sudo apt-get install rasplex (or whatever name it's going to have)<br />

And have a working plex client on the pi? I assume a lot, and would get it if it takes a while but I like the idea of it.

Yes. The drivers already exist and are useable via wicd-curses. However, we need an interface like raspbmc has - this is a planned item on the https://trello.com/board/plex-on-raspberry-pi/510c4d34e1d17df66c00092a trello board

This will be coming sooner than you think, it's already planned on the https://trello.com/board/plex-on-raspberry-pi/510c4d34e1d17df66c00092a trello board. Just wait a week or two for things to stabilize more, and then I'll make a raspbian image / package.

For anyone who really likes the work so far, you can support more development and additional features by donating at http://srvthe.net/

The goal is something at parity with raspbmc, I have started talking to Sam Nazarko (the creator of Raspbmc) for tips, etc.

I appreciate all of the donations so far, and would do the work regardless of if people donate or not. But it gets done faster with coffee and raman noodles

It is on github at https://github.com/dalehamel/plex-home-theatre, my instructions are at http://blog.srvthe.net/archives/409 for setting this up.

Or, you can just wait for me to release a raspbian binary in a week or two.

Alright, what’s the best Rsp to buy? Where’s the best place to buy them online? Is there anything else I need?

All movies and TV shows on my PMS are 720 or higher.

Oh yea and great job Dale and everyone who is involved. Wish I had the knowledge to pick up a project like this and just pump it out.
