PlexHT works fine on Windows 7 too, I’m running it myself.
I’m using a cheap asus video card in a HP Microserver which all works perfectly but a bit out of place in the living room.
I’ve been wanting to replace it for a long time now with a small, cheap, low power device just strong enough to run the full featured Plex experience and I thought the RPi2 was going to be it, so close!
Maybe the coders will figure a way yet…
Kudos
PHT on Openelec running on a NUC 2820 passes HD audio through. See the openelec thread on the PHT thread. Similar results reported using PHT on openelec with Chromebox.

Guys, whilst I find this exchange fascinating can I suggest that you start a new thread in the General Discussions, entitled Best Client for DTS HD, this is not really relevant here. The Raspberry Pi A, A+, B, B+, B2 will never support DTS HD passthrough, maybe a C or D might, but I doubt it, the main thrust of raspberrypi.org is educational use, not home theatre systems.

Maybe so, but quite a few of the Pi developers are behind this new Raspberry Pi based media player, so they are at least well aware of the HD audio requirements for home theatre systems.
Cheers, Steve.

??? Not since it has MPEG2, H.264 and VC1 codec support.
The pi was created for educational use. This is undeniable. No use in continuing that conversation. A new thread, as [member='NedtheNerd'] suggested, is the best solution, because you'll find more like-minded individuals.
I haven't the slightest idea why we should stop talking about the capabilities of the Raspberry Pi in regards to PHT, audio codecs or anything else in this thread. Obviously RasPlex, Rasbian and the like are real things, and the point of this thread. This *IS* a Plex forum. Get off your high horse.
We've already established the audio capabilities of the Rpi. That discussion is topical and perfectly fine. Discussion of other clients, however, should be moved elsewhere.

And they are also aware of the fact you'll never get DTS HD from current Rsspberry Pi's!
Fine, talk about the other capabilities of the Raspberry Pi, you can talk about audio codecs all day long but you cannot escape the fact that DTS HD will never happen on current Pi's. The discussion had moved away from The Raspberry Pi and on to what's the best Plex client for DTS HD.I haven't the slightest idea why we should stop talking about the capabilities of the Raspberry Pi in regards to PHT, audio codecs or anything else in this thread. And try not to be rude to other contributors in this forum, everyone is entitled to an opinion.
That small rainbow square means you need a better power supply.

I also had the rainbow square. Turned out to be caused by the micro USB cable I was using, once I swapped it the square went away. Guessing it was causing some kind of resistance?
I have now tried with DTS-HD MA and TrueHD. They do not work. Apparently the hardware supports it, but software does not.
What happens when you try to play HD audio? Do you get the DTS Core and DD or do you just get no sound at all?
It (DTS-MA/TrueHD) will usually be played as PCM to your receiver if the PI doesnt support it by itself, at least that's what I found out on our home setup. DTS-ES, DTS, AC3/DD all can direct play fine.
I have just compiled a RPi2 image of OpenELEC 5.0.1 with PlexHT 1.3.6 if anyone is interested in testing PlexHT on RPi2.
Grab image and source code from https://github.com/Kwiboo/OpenELEC.tv/releases
Note: OpenELEC-settings is not included in image.
Could you do the same for a Cubox-i4Pro? I would be really grateful. I guess RasPlex for the Cubox will be postponed even further with the RPi2 out. I still like the Cubox for the SPDIF out.

Hi !
If i want to play media from my PMS on my RPI2, do I only need to flash Rasplex on it ? Or I need OpenElec ? Or BerryBoot ?
Thanks ;)

Just flash the latest Rasplex for RPi2 - 0.5.1, using GetRasplex, https://github.com/RasPlex/RasPlex/releases (scroll down to find 0.5.1) ,onto a class 10 SD card, 4gb is sufficient.

I just ordered my RPi2 and can't wait! My #1 goal was to move away from the ROku and its horrible interface. That being said, reading about the audio issues may have dashed that dream.
If HD Audio and DTS Audio convert to PCM then it should play correct surround sound? What are the disadvantages of converting to PCM? My overall goal is keep true surround sound. I am not an audiophile, but simple stereo is unacceptable. Are we stuck with simple Stereo here? Most my movies are either DTS or AAC3. Thanks for the info!
How stable is Raspberry Pi 2 compared to the original?
I tried running rasplex on the previous model and it was terribly slow. I got the recent version of rasplex and fired up my rpi2 and the performance is very impressive.
I loaded up rasplex on my PI2 and I have to say I was disappointed . The interface maybe faster than the PI1, I wouldn't know, the PI2 is my first, but it's a lot slower than I'm used to.
However, I could live with that, maybe, if it weren't for the video stuttering on bluray rips.
I've heard you can 'overclock' the PI, is this advisable and if so how do I do it and what settings should I use?
