raspberrypi 2

Excellent news!

One question: does anyone know what bitrate the Pi2 can handle via Direct Play?

I've played 40GB 1080p rips with HD audio (although only on a TV with stereo speakers) using OpelElec 5.0.1. Not sure of their exact bitrate at this time but they played flawlessly when using Gigabit ethernet.

Gigabit ethernet?

Rpi2 has just 10/100 nic or i'm wrong?

To be honest i didn't check, my point was ethernet rather than wifi.

Yep it still has 10/100 :) Mine just arrived, so just waiting for the beta of rasplex now.

While waiting for Rasplex for Pi2  I configured  standard Rasplex 0.5.0 image and OpenElec 5.0.3  with BerryBoot.

Everything works almost perfect for now. Interface, playback, sound - its hard to find something wrong.

DTS, Dolby Digital (downsampling and HDMI passthrough), mkv, avi, 1080p  - everything flawlessly.

I have tried max bitrate I've found. played BluRay backup BDMV  with video bitrate about 30Mb/s plus audio PCM almost 10Mb/s .  Not even one pause.

Overlay info shows using 50% of 1st core  and about 10% of rest 3 cores.

This test made in XMBC of course. I can't play BDRip in Plex ( don't now if its possible)

So far so good. I'm speechless.

P.S.

One thing happened while 1080p playing mkv movie with srt subtitles in Plex.

most of subtitles showing during this movie was ok but some of them was ...how to say... fuzzy  and totally unreadable.

looked like rendering problem....probably could be berryboot drivers ore something similiar problem...just guessing

Well it's not Plex, but that still bodes well. Right now, my highest bitrate file clocks in at about 28Mbps.

Well I have been running a Raspberry Pi B (not a +) with Rasplex 0.5.0 and 0.4.1 before that and have been able to playback full BluRay rips without a hickup.

I over-clock to the max settings 100/500/500/6 . I did however notice that if I turn of "FFMPEG AVIO" as has been suggested lately, it starts to stop and buffer every few seconds!

You don't have to turn FFMPEG AVIO off unless you need transcoding of any video, that's the part that is currently not working.

Rpi2+openlec(kodihelix)+rasplex with bootberry running perfectly!

I recommend it! Best!

Hamgeva, Why not just run the Native OpenElec distro on the RPI2, its compatible.

Sorry, new to this thread and the Raspberry Pi.

What is the advantage to running OpenElec over Rasplex natively?

Can anyone explain how to install this?

Install what... Onto what?

The official release supporting RPi2, 0.5.1, is now out: https://github.com/RasPlex/RasPlex/releases/tag/0.5.1

You must use the new installer, or flash manually.

Just installed it and it seems to work exceedingly well! I've been monitoring this thread ever since I got my hands on an RPi2 on release day. Thrilled to have a cheap solution for several HTPCs around the house. Thank you (team Rasplex and Kwiboo) very much for your hard work and dedication!

I know you're posting news to your Facebook page, but might I suggest that you also post on Rasplex.com? I thought the project was "dead" a week ago, since the latest post is about a release candidate back in May of '14.

I would also like to point out the "Donate"-button readily available on Rasplex.com. I've donated $10 CAD. Will you?

Hi guys, thanks so much for turning this round so fast!

I installed the image via updated installer on mac (yosemite) and I seem to be stuck on the rainbow screen coloured (square) on boot up for the last 10 mins. Is this normal? I flashed it twice with the same result.

Scratch that, I was being stupid in my eagerness. I flashed the wrong image.

I have flashed the correct image to my RPi2 and am getting the small coloured square on the top right.......what is this?

Thanks for all the hard work guys.....it flying along!

That small rainbow square means you need a better power supply.

My Pi 2 arrived yesterday.. great timing for Rasplex to land today!   Got it up and running on the new image about an hour ago.  Works a treat!  Threw a few high bitrate BD rips at it and it didn't blink.  Very impressed so far.
