I’m seeing an odd issue with music during video. Multi channel audio files do not seem to be downmixing to stereo 2.0 over HDMI correctly. Manifests with TV show themes. Seems to be center channel issue.
Unfortunately your observation is correct.
There is a definite bug in the downmix code which will have to be corrected in the next release.
The RasPlex team is aware of this and working on a fix so hopefully it will soon be done.
Edit:
I replied to this before seeing that @NedtheNerd had already dealt with it.
But I’ll leave my post as-is anyway, just as a reminder that the issue really is being worked on.
Hi all,
Had a read but couldn’t find on ver 1 release notes. Is Hifiberry now working on movies or is it still only music.
I’m trying to avoid changing my amp and the hdmi to optical extractor i have has a hissy fit anytime my movies are anything other than standard dolby or dts.

Hopefully minor release should be out soon to fix the downmix issue.
how soon-ish?
One coder is working on it as we speak, and once he has something hopefully solving the problem it will be beta tested by myself and others in the team. This may motivate additional fixes which also have to be tested, after which the new version will be released ASAP.
But of course, it’s impossible for me to say exactly when he will have licked the bug.
I expect it within a day or two, but can’t guarantee it.

I’ve been looking forward to the 1.0.0 because of the Game Emulation I thought there’d be. Am I overlooking it, or has it been postponed? Might just be a little impatient
What game emulation? Where did you get that from?
Regards
He got it from the Raplex website under Why Rasplex?:
Complete entertainment solution
Once RasPlex is out of Beta, it will also have support for Plex Channels, such as NetFlix, Crackle, and many more! With features like Retro Arch game emulation powered by Emulation Station, your RasPlex will be a full entertainment center to play all of your favorite nostalgia games on one powerful little box.
On another note on the Rasplex website FAQ for How can I control RasPlex? I’m surprised you don’t mention the Flirc usb, I think the best way of controlling if CEC doesn’t work for you.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to trying version 1, thanks for all your work.
That RasPlex website is unfortunately quite obsolete and incorrect in many aspects due to lack of maintenance. (Programmers usually prefer to write code, not docs… )
The ‘Emulation Station’ comment derives from an old idea that was never implemented.
(Would never have worked satisfactorily on an RPi1 anyway.)
Users who want the ability to switch between emulators and normal RasPlex use can do so by installing “BerryBoot” and then install RasPlex and the emulators as separate OS booted through BerryBoot.
I have such a setup myself, allowing me to switch my RPi2 between RasPlex, Kodi, PMP, RetroPie, Chameleon, and various Linux systems, some of which also have games installed (such as FreeCiv under Ubuntu-Mate).
In my case I use a USB3 HDD of 1TB to house the various OS for BerryBoot, so that the SD card is only used for the BerryBoot bootup, with all OS and dynamic data storage using the HDD. But BerryBoot is equally suited for having the storage of multiple OS and their data on the same SD card (it’s the default), though that naturally requires an SD card with suitable storage capacity.

Well, the website mentions this:

What makes you think that a version number of 1.0.0 means it’s out of Beta?
I will update that particular page, dlanor is quite incorrect when he states the website is out of date, I only updated the major content a few months ago, perhaps he hasn’t looked at it recently.

Just thought so because it went from 0.x.x to 1.x.x. Guess I assumed wrongly.
Can we expect any implementation of emulation in the foreseeable future or has this been scrapped completely?
Any thoughts about adding spotify connect?
Not sure how or if its possible. I know someone made some special solution with openelec and spotiamp (through wine) but guess that’s a bit too much for the Pi.

Would be sweet to play spotify easy.
Have you looked in the Channels (addons in Kodi) section, I believe there used to be.Spotify channel but I think it fell by the wayside some time ago.
Channels are how access to external media is provided in Plex, head along there and see if anybody is interested as it is not something that will be provided in Rasplex, but if a channel did develop then you could ag the channel to Rasplex (or any other Plex client.
There was/is a spotify channel. However not exactly what Im looking for. Since Airplay is available and possible to use from spotify on iOS Im looking for some way to do the same from Android. Chromecast emulation seems less likely so proposed one solution which I at least have read could be done in openelec.

As I eluded to in my reply, in OpenELEC it’s done through the the use of a Kodi addon, same as Channels in Plex. There will be no Rasplex specific Spotify code provided as part of Rasplex.
