Can RasPlex output 3D movies?
I have a Ben-Q W1070 projector which is 3D compatible, and I have tried to play a 3D-SBS movie, which I know works on a Samsung TV with the Samsung client.
When the film is played I get the SBS movie with left and right side by side (SBS).
Are there plans to make RasPlex output 3D movies so they are recognised by 3D equipment?
I don’t have the 3D Samsung TV any more, so unfortunately I can’t try RasPlex on this, but in the past I have used Plex server with the Samsung client to successfully watch these movies in 3D.
Thanks for any help you may be able to give.
You can switch you tv to 3D manually and it will work.
Turns out that it was the resolution/refresh rate that was not compatible with the 3D SBS.
Solution: manually set the resolution/refresh in Preferences/System/Video Output.
For anyone else that has one of these projectors:
- 3D SBS needs to be run at 1080i and either 60 or 50 Hz
- 3D Frame progressive or Over Under needs 1080P @24Hz
Hope that is of help to anyone else wanting to view 3D movies on these projectors.
nichochi, yes, you are right, you do need to switch the projector manually to 3D to get it to work, but outside the supported resolutions/refresh rates the SBS/3D setting was greyed out or unavailable. Shame there isn't a way of sending the 3D signal to the projector in the same way that they Samsung client can tell the TV to go into 3D mode when it sees a 3D image.
Thanks for your help.
