rasplex CEC on Samsung TVs

Hi,

Does anyone have a recent Samsung TV (I have just bought a 2015 model, J6200) working with HDMI-CEC for rasplex? The TV does not detect any devices when I search for AnyNET+ devices (Samsung’s name for CEC).

Strangely enough, if I reboot the Rasplex Pi, a message does appear saying “Pulse Eight CEC” together with the main menu , but maybe that’s Rasplex displaying it?

Is your hdmi cable good enough?

I think you need a v1.4 cable or above for CEC to work

When I bought them they said 1.4. I’ll try to change them around a bit to see if it helps.

You don’t need to search for any devices, it won’t find them, if you get the Pulse 8 message when booting then CEC should have been enabled, is it not working? There are options in Preferences.

Regards

Amazingly it was the cable. Replaced a TV shop €15 cable with a cheapo €5 one and it works beautifully. Good bye FLIRC and crappy remote!

Also on my Samsung TV I had problems when multiple HDMI cables (with CEC compatibility?) were attached. CEC did not work until I pulled out the HTPC DVI-HDMI cable from my TV. CEC from RP was recognized immediately. Before that even searching for devices did not help. Having a CEC compatible cable of course helps too

BTW regarding the el-cheapo HDMI, NEVER pay more than $5 for a HDMI cable as all (of the same version :stuck_out_tongue: ) are the same: http://www.cnet.com/news/why-all-hdmi-cables-are-the-same/
