Rasplex with CEC support (LG and/or Samsung TV)

Hello Devs!

its good to see a version for raspberry Pi !!!

Im using raspberry as a network server with minidlna, as XMBC is not supporting DLNA for my samsung tv.

I am interested in rasplex and would like to know if it supports hdmi-CEC for either samsung or lg tv.

CEC works with my Samsung tv

I am guessing "Sent from my GT-P3110 using Tapatalk 2" is just something you have your phone writing whenever you post or something?

CEC works great on my UN55D8000

CEC works wonderfully on my Samsung TV, however on the Toshiba 46TL968b that I need it for, CEC doesn't work at all. No standby, tv doesn't turn on when the PI does nor does the remote control Plex. Very frustrating.

cant get hdmi-CEC to work on my Samsung TV UE40ES5500

Is there anything that needs to be configured for this to work. I have used hdmi cec on the same telly before with raspbmc.

Turns out CEC does work on my Toshiba 46TL968. But only when Rasplex is the only HDMI device connected.. so CEC is completely broken when Sky is also plugged in.

Seriously, Toshiba? Morons.

Did you try swapping around the HDMI input that the PI uses? I saw another user that said it only worked on a specific input.

I tried the PI on all four HDMI ports, with nothing else plugged in and CEC works flawlessly. With the Pi still on, I plugged in the SkyHD box and instantly CEC stopped working.

When I checked the manual for the TV, it even noted: "When several devices are connected, the HDMI CEC Control feature may not operate properly."

Check on the Wikipedia page for HDMI, I quote "control up-to 15 CEC-enabled devices."

Starting to feel like Toshiba couldn't really be arsed to include decent CEC functionality.

This is actually a Sky box issue - google Sky Pin 13 HDMI issue.  They have ignored the HDMI standard by grounding pin 13 which messes up CEC.

CEC works fine on my LG 42LK520. No problems at all.

According to LG documentation. Simplink only works on the first 2 ports. I've tried it on all 3 and they seem to work. Currently using port 1 & 2 just to be safe and it works great with my rpi

CEC generally works fine on my 2011 LG 42LV5400. LD brands CEC as Simplink. The built-in USB ports also put out enough juice to run my Pi (although dongles, etc. all hang off a separate powered hub).

A few minor notes:

1. I first tried with a $2 HDMI cable from the dollar store, which did not work. Moved up to a $6 HDMI cable and this problem was solved.

2. Running my Pi off the built-in USB ports means that when the TV turns on, the Pi turns on. And then the TV automatically switches to the Pi as input. Because it takes a while for Rasplex to boot up, I often go back to normal TV while waiting. Rasplex seems to re-initiate CEC three times during boot up for me (at the OpenElec boot screen, at the Rasplex boot screen, and then again once its actually finished loading).

Other than controlling the pi with the TV remote, and turning on the TV when turning on the pi, what other functionality does rasplex and cec have?

What can I expect from CEC? Am i able to control Plex with the remote I use for my Samsung (or rather, my logitech harmony remote) via CEC? I think i would only need the navigation arrows, play, OK, forward, backward, stop and return button.

I assume its the same as vanilla openelec, on my samsung TV (2010, important because all samsung 2008-2011 samsung TVs had anynet, 2012+ only some samsung tvs have anynet, without it cec on the raspberry pi wont work) the arrows work, exit works as back, back (I think it's the back button, its on the left, opposite the exit button, whatever that is) is the context menu, stop, pause, play work, guide attempts to bring up some pvr related functions I dont have

Hi!

I am new to rasplex. I installed it yesterday and it was no problem. The only big problem is that hdmi cec does not work. I have a samsung es8005 2012 so the tv supports it but I can not controll it. I have tried to reinstall rasplex but nothing happends. When I start rasplex it says that hdmi cec i configured. I have even tried openelec with xbmc but that does not work either. I have tried with two different hdmi cable. Anyone with any idea?

On my Samsung UE55C8705, only the HDMI1/DVI input had HDMI-CEC (Samsung calls this for Anynet+).

I have an old 42LG2000 that works with CEC .. almost. The "back" funktion does not work. Extremely annoying as everything else works. Have tried with a universal remote set to LG spec without improvement. Will try switching HDMI-ports and upgrading to experimental Rasplex version.

Other ideas?!

Be very wary of relying on CEC, it's a very sketchy protocol as it hasn't been fully ratified yet.

Something that says it supports CEC may not actually support the standard the raspberry pi does.

Seem ridiculous? It's because it is.
