I would love to see a feature for private listening, maybe something like the roku 3 using like a iphone, ipod, and android device. or even port over the roku 3 remote. Do you think this would be something you could build?
Many, many thanks for this. I am really impressed with the significant performance improvements in .35, still a little laggy but much much better than previous versions. Great work. Having no problems with my vast HD movie and TV library (720p/1080p H.264/AAC Stereo/AC3 5.1 + Subs MP4). Keep it coming.
As for ideas, are there any plans to enable Emulator support from within Plex's menus. At the moment .35 boots straight into the Plex client so there isn't a GUI method for staring up emulators like MAME, FS-UAE and Wine that are installed under /storage/emulators. I haven't tried starting them from the command line as I assume attempts to display output will conflict with the Plex client. Or am I wrong?
I obviously can't speak for the RasPlex developer, but I suspect that what you ask for is outside the scope of any dedicated 'Plex Home Theater' implementation. And I dont think you can run advanced emulators in parallel with a Plex client on a computer with so limited processing power as the Raspberry Pi has, so instead you should be looking for alternate boot methods allowing runtime choice of booting either RasPlex or some other firmware with support for those emulators (such as debian 'Wheezy' or similar). The 'BerryBoot' project can probably help you create a suitable dual-boot setup for this.As for ideas, are there any plans to enable Emulator support from within Plex's menus. Thanks dlanor, I didn't think about that as an approach but I guess it makes a lot of sense. I can always maintain two SDRAM sticks to boot from, one for Plex and one for Emulators through as you say another OS environment like Raspbian Wheezy. I'll have a look at BerryBoot as I have not heard of that until now. It would be nice if it supports chain booting from another device e.g. a usb hard drive that way I could boot into either environment without having to swap memory sticks each time.
hey there!
i'd LOVE to see a way to enable/disable more of the options from the main menu and/or the Movies/TV Series menus.
i am only planning on using my rasplex for local Movie & TV content so i have no need for the video channels/pictures/music, etc. i was able to disable those so they no longer appear in the menu (awesome!), but i'm hoping that you can extend this for other menu options (channel directory for one).
side note: when selected, the "channel directory" text enlarges and the entire thing is no longer visible ; )
secondly, i would love to have a way to make a "default" selection for the Movies/TV Series sections. For example, when you pick Movies from the main menu, i want it to just go to All Movies list, rather than bring me to a submenu where i can select which movies i want to view. That menu is still pretty awesome, but i would prefer to just go straight to all movies and then maybe go somewhere else on screen to get to this menu to filter what is shown.
I live in the middle of nowhere in the third world. We have 4 TV channels, all showing nothing at all of interest (or in a language I understand) to me.
So I subscribe to my favorite sport, MotoGP, via motoGP.com.
Is there a way to access html pages? Is this something I can create myself? I am happy to give it a go, but wouldn't know where to start...
I have time, am reasonably adept with OS's and apps, but haven't ever developed anything on Unix before or for Plex.
Again, thank you to the dev team for the great work.
I know it's an "out of Plex" feature, but the addon I would like to see on RasPlex would be MPD so I can output music directly to my stereo and not to the TV, with better GUI and features than Plex can provide for this.
If someone can point me where to look, I would be happy to work on this.
I guess I have to checkout sources and ... ??? ...

The best thing to do would be to develop a 'channel' for the Plex Media Server, there is a whole sub forum devoted to this off of the main Plex forum.
NB channel are not yet officially supported in the Rasplex client (so it might not work at all) but it is on the roadmap, so having it ready and working on e.g. the desktop client would probably be a good idea.
Currently there exists a plugin installs on the server that will scrobble what we are playing to Trak.tv. It is a bit of a hack at this stage (it monitors the logs looking for playback to start). It would be much better if scrobbling could be done in the client. http://trakt.tv/api-docs
The problem with server-side scrobbling is that it breaks the moment more than one video is being streamed from the server at once. If scrobbling could be enable at the client end it would work much better.
Also the fact he's using the log file is not ideal, it doesn't pick up differences in different clients (web client not picked up at all) - and until there's a nowplaying api call I don't see the Server side getting better.
For us with the 256MB versions of either Model A or Model B, can you make a RasPlex light, maybe get rid of some stuff not necessary to play? I liked how the 0.1.28 (alpha) and 0.1.29 (1st beta) ran on my 256MB RasPlex, but do like the new settings and the network configuration (wifi, ethernet, etc etc) Anything that you can do to make it a bit lighter? I bought the Model B in August 2012 I think a few weeks or months when it came out, they soon realized it wasn't enough memory and now I am stuck with it, thinking I could have gotten a Model B rev 2 for the same price and twice the memory and enjoy the full features of RasPlex + caching...
2 Emails I sent to Element 14 / Newark to see if they would consider trading my 256MB with the new 512MB and they will not answer me. Sad... I guess until 0.1.29 stops working with the newer versions of Plex I will keep it around ... I wish it had the eth0/wlan selection like the newer ones..
As of now we mostly concentrate on making the general release more stable even on 512M Pi.
There are already a number of topics which are tagged and which should make it lighter for 256MB like option to select HD / SD artwork.
There are so many topics to address and we are only a few devs, so be patient :)
We'll try to do whatever is possible to have it run on a 256M Pi, but this is not in the higher priority tasks at the moment :p
Is there anyway that through the GUI you could enable a way to change to the OverClock?
Plex is such a great application and now it’s Pi friendly it’s great… RaspBMC was good with the plex module but its much better being able to keep the apps the same around the house, from a child and partner perspective…
Is there a roadmap item for being able to segregate the library so that you could have a kids section that is only visible from there PiPlax? That would be amazing…
Hello, you is it possible to integrate the NeoRouter Client "NeoRouter Free Client for Raspbian" wheezy "in your distribution?
thank you
Just wanted to say that plex runs pretty good on my 256 mb rev b pi.
I have enabled the "force transcode" option, at 4Mbps. Its good for everyday use, albeit a bit on the slow side in the menus and crashing at irregular intervals.
keep up the good work and concentrate on stability/usability would be my request :)
using the 0.1.37 version, btw
Hello,
Is it possible to implement the https in your distribution?
Currently, I wrap PMS with Stunnel, it works perfectly in a browser https, but it does not work when I manually entered the https PMS in Rasplex parameters.
Congratulations for your work
there are some features that are missing from rasplex:
1. being able to connect to a plex server through Internet without the need for vpn
2. include opensubtitles plugin from xbmc. sometimes the subtitles on plexserver can be wrong or missing.
3. include weather plugin
4. include tv sources like in xbmc, for example tvheadend.
great product!
I have a request. I would like to have a RasPlex image developed for Berryboot. I use Berryboot to allow me to boot my Rasberry Pi to to Debian and other distros. However, there is not yet a reliable version of Rasplex that works with Beryboot.
Actually, I did manage to find a RasPlex image for Berryboot on one of the forums. Someone had cobbled together, but it was not really functional. It would be nice to have one that was done right.

+1 for this. I live with 4 housemates so can't use any form of server side scrobbling :(
