Rasplex sometimes not appearing on iOS fling menu

Hi all :slight_smile:

I recently bought a raspberry 3 and did a clean install of the latest stable rasplex version. (v1.0.3).

The first few days everything went perfect, some trouble with Wi-Fi but solved it by just using Ethernet.

My issue however is that I can no longer see the rasplex on my phone (fling menu), I’m using the Plex app v4.0.15 on the latest iOS (9.3). My wife however, with the same versions I have (latest iOS, latest Plex app) can see and control the rasplex without problems. Through HDMICEC it also works, it is just my phone. I can also see the device reproducing music and/or videos in the plex media server web app.

I’m using plex media server version 0.9.16.3, which is also the latest (stable).

As a strange note: if I disable and enable the option to allow control of PHT from Plex clients (under preferences - services) on the rasplex itself I am able to see and control the rasplex without problems on my phone… for a few minutes. Then it just disappears again.

What can I do to further debug the problem? I have no problems shooting an issue into rasplex’ Github repo, but I couldn’t find any logs on the rasplex device itself.

oops, can’t seem to find the edit button.

What I’ve tried so far:

  • on my phone: disable / enable wifi, no changes
  • on my phone: uninstall and install the app, no changes
  • on my phone: hard-close the app, reopen it, no changes
  • on rasplex: enable and disable remote control: seems to work for a few minutes
  • on rasplex: rebooting a few times, no changes
  • on rasplex: shutdown and start up, no changes
  • on plex media server: restart the service, no changes

I just had this happen here too, don’t know why, it was the first time it’s happened.

It did happen for a few days and now the problem solved itself. I’m marking this thread as resolved.
