I have an old 42LG2000 that works with CEC .. almost. The "back" funktion does not work. Extremely annoying as everything else works. Have tried with a universal remote set to LG spec without improvement. Will try switching HDMI-ports and upgrading to experimental Rasplex version.
Other ideas?!
Upgraded the firmware in the TV and upgraded rasplex to latest version, no difference.
Be very wary of relying on CEC, it's a very sketchy protocol as it hasn't been fully ratified yet.
Something that says it supports CEC may not actually support the standard the raspberry pi does.
Seem ridiculous? It's because it is.
Well. Sketchy as it is, getting CEC to work is crucial to many of us. If I wanted to use keyboard and mouse to control my Plex client there are better platforms than Rasberry PI. Sketchy or not, CSC is the whole point of using Rasplex, atleast for me
I think since the rasplex is typically always on (standby that can wake-on-remote-input is another discussion) what I would like is for input to the rasplex (via remote, keyboard, etc.) to trigger turning on the TV (not the other way around.)
Conversely, when the rasplex is idle for a certain number of minutes I'd like it to turn the TV off.
This is the way computers have always turned on and off external monitors and I'd like it to work here as well, especially given that TVs by themselves are both power hungry and unable to detect when they are being used. The rasplex knows when it is being used, so it only seems rational to me that it should control the power state of the TV for us.
EDIT: After exploring some more, it seems the way to do this is the (extremely well-hidden) CEC option "Put devices in standy mode when activating screensaver". Sweet!
