when I assign a rating to a currently playing track, and leave the rating window expanded, it does not update to the rating of the new track when that starts playing. I have to collapse the window and re-expand it to see or change the rating of the current playing currently playing track.

I think you’ll find it’ll keep the entire track around, which is intentional because if you were about to add something to a playlist and it ends, it would be pretty annoying 
I didn’t even think that was possibily intentional because I have not experienced another app that does that. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to put a rating in for something right at the end of the track and it goes to the next one and I’m unable to do so. This turned out to be a fantastic “bug”.
