RaxPlex Bluetooth audio issues with Sony sound bar

Hi,

I’m trying to use a Sony HT-CT370 sound bar as my audio using RasPlex. I have the following RasPlex version:

RasPlex (official) Version: 1.8.0.148-573b6d73
RasPlex git: e2efbe6dff28a97ec76f0db00073fa3d00b45584

I enabled Bluetooth from the RasPlex settings UI then paired RasPlex with the sound bar. so far so good. I can hear the UI ‘click’ sounds from it. But when I start to watch a movie, it only plays audio for say 1-2 seconds, then the audio is muted. the sound bar thinks it’s still connected (it has a solid blue light lit showing a BT connection), but there is no sound coming from it.

I logged in to RasPlex via ssh, it lists the device:

# bluetoothctl list
[NEW] Controller B8:27:EB:9E:EA:55 RasPlex [default]
[NEW] Device 9C:AD:97:34:24:49 SONY:HT-CT370

but then things turn strange:

[bluetooth]# info 9C:AD:97:34:24:49
Device 9C:AD:97:34:24:49 not available
[bluetooth]# list
Controller B8:27:EB:9E:EA:55 RasPlex [default]
[bluetooth]# quit
[DEL] Controller B8:27:EB:9E:EA:55 RasPlex [default]

but this happens all over again:

# bluetoothctl list
[NEW] Controller B8:27:EB:9E:EA:55 RasPlex [default]
[NEW] Device 9C:AD:97:34:24:49 SONY:HT-CT370
...

playing a bit more:

[bluetooth]# connect 9C:AD:97:34:24:49
Attempting to connect to 9C:AD:97:34:24:49
[bluetooth]# info 9C:AD:97:34:24:49

but maybe RasPlex is trying to connect at the same time

how can one debug thus more & make it work?

Akos

is your Pi a 3b or 3b+?
are you using wifi or lan?
are you using the built in bluetooth?

I never tried to connect a bluetooth soundbar but what I can tell you is that the built in bluetooth is garbage and should be avoided, specially if you are also using the wifi.

The only time I used a bluetooth speaker the delay was so horrible I discarded it intermediately
