"Recently Added" items get removed after NAS backup

My Plex Media Server runs on a Mac but the media is on a NAS. When I add new media (TV or Movies) the items show up under “Recently Added” as expected. However when I run a backup job on my NAS to backup the new files to an external disk, the items vanish from “Recently Added” (but are still findable and playable). Something about the NAS copy job is causing Plex to not think the items are new anymore. Any idea how I can troubleshoot this?

The NAS is a Lenovo® ix4-300d if that helps.
