Old movies occasionally get shown in 'Recently Added' list

This has happened to me at least 3-4 times over the past year. Occasionally a large group of older movies stored on my NAS will sudden show up in my ‘Recently Added’ section. This has the affect of pushing all of my actual recently added movies off the list which is extremely annoying.

I have verified on the NAS that the older files themselves have not been modified by looking at the datestamp. After searching through my Plex log files I haven’t found anything that could identify what the issue may be.

Plex Media server is running on an Ubuntu 14.04 x64 VM. The data is stored on a NAS that is available on the linuxbox as a cifs mounted driectory.

Any thoughts someone may have on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm.
Maybe the NAS went offline for some reason long enough for PMS to have deleted the titles???
THEN… come back up when PMS would have re-added them as recently added??

Just a thought since you said it only has happened once or twice in as many years.

LOL

I concur. It sounds like the NAS was not available when PMS went to update its Library, making it think the media had been removed. Later, when the next Library update occurred, the media was found again and added as if new.

If the NAS was in standby and didn’t wake up in time (WOL), it can cause this behavior.

@arvinsingla Do you have your PMS server set to Empty Trash automatically?

I suggest you uncheck this.

@sGarver @ChuckPa @jjrjr1 Thanks for the prompt replies. ‘Empty trash on every scan’ was enabled. My NAS must have become unavailable briefly during a library update causing the movies to be removed and re-added. The support article on emptying trash was very detailed and confirms this behaviour. https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200289326-Emptying-Library-Trash
