Nice! Maybe NVIDIA will help fixing this…
Looks like the same issue as this https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/972125/shield-tv/missing-files-folders-on-smb-mounted-file-systems
Not much info from Plex or nvidia, seems to be an issue with the smb mounts.
Temporary solution is to split your library in different folders. I have 2 directories listed for my moves library and the issue has gone away, may have to make a third folder at some point.

Did you read any of this thread…? Two posts before yours I linked to that same topic on the NV forums… Also your workaround was more of a fluke than anything, as this issue technically affects any folder on a SMB share that has over 70 items in it, but its hit-or-miss, so eventually this issue will affect you, with or without your workaround (unless you split into multiple folders all with under 70 items in them, but I cant promise that would thwart the issue for sure either)
I think this is caused due to the meta data refresh option EG refresh local meta data, not sure tho

Chill out bud, I read some of the first few posts and recognized the issue and tried to help.
Yes this needs to be addressed by Plex/Nvidia but splitting the movies into different folders works (crappy fix? yes) for those who don’t want to wait.
Find something better to do with your time besides complaining about other users trying to help on internet forums.
I can confirm that splitting the content into subfolders with fewer than 70 items, has solved the issue for me. I know it’s not ideal, but it’s been over a month, and I’ve finally been happy with my setup. Couchpotato even has a naming rule that uses the first letter of the movie’s name as the parent folder. For TV shows it’s a bit more of a manual process using Sonarr, but then again, I don’t add a new TV show every day (not even every week). Worth pointing out though that for TV shows, this works for me because I keep around the video file and a subtitle file and that’s it. Thus I’m keeping a safe distance from whatever the max file boundary is. If you keep more metadata, multiple subs, etc… it might be a different story for you.

If you think my response warranted a “chill out” I would be weary of the rest of the internet ;). Everything I said was written in a neutral tone. Also please stop referencing Plex in regards to the issue being resolved, this hinders advancement as Plex has nothing to do with the issue, as the very first post in the link both of us shared proves.
Same here… for a long time now!
hi i bought a Shield Tv Pro (2017) a couple of weeks ago, and i have the same annoying problem. My library have over 2450 item, and now in my PMS i only see randomly 2410. 30-40 item are missing at any library update! -_-
No words…So much power without any control
So any update on this…I updated to the newest beta on Play Store and still having this problem. I also think it’s messing with my PlexKodiConnect and getting duplicate entries.
I had this issue where Plex would delete random movies from my collection. The files would just disappear! I read somewhere that Shield/Plex doesn’t like NTFS formatted hard drives. So I backed up my media and formatted the drive to exFAT. Moved everything back and haven’t had that issue since.
Mines stored on a Buffalo NAS…I’m about ready to go back to a PC as my server. These issues are incredibly annoying. I was so happy to get the Shield after I heard it could be a Plex server but I’m having nothing but issues with it. If it wasn’t for the power savings I’d be back on a 24/7 online pc.
it was FIXED BY NVIDIA https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/972125/shield-tv/missing-files-folders-on-smb-mounted-file-systems/11/

I had a few episodes that refused to leave the top of the ‘recently added’ list. I was able to resolve this issue for my Plex system. The media file modified date was completely empty. Never seen this before. After some basic attempts like renaming or editing metadata, I eventually downloaded Attribute Changer https://www.petges.lu/ and was able to set a modified date. Plex now allows for newer content to show as newer and over time the other episodes will be less and less ‘recently added.’
Same here but for TV-shows.
6 shows always is “Recently added”.
And it´s the same 6 shows… :S
I have the same issue for movies. A couple of days ago ALL my movies got added to “Recently added”. I don’t have an NVIDIA Shield, so the fixes mentioned doesn’t help me.
Edit: Oh, sorry didn’t realize I was in the Shield forum, I just did a search for this issue. But on the other hand it is hard for the Plex development team to blame the Nvidia team when other also have this issue…
I have the same issue on my Mac mini
