Hello,
I’m new to this program and only had experience with Samsung streaming from my computer to my TV.
Is there a way for Plex to recognize files in sub folders if you add a main folder… On my TV I see the main folder with the sub folder but when I click on the sub folder it states it’s empty but they do have video files in them.
Do I have to add the sub folders independently?
Thanks,
Chas

Hello,
My problem is not the name or type of file. When I added folder that has multiple folders with file in them I see the sub folders but when I click on one of those I get “THERE ARE NO ITEMS IN THIS LIBRARY” even though they have correct format files (avi, mkv)
Do I have to add all folders separately or is there a setting the will include all subfolders containing files inside the main folder.
When I used Servio or Samsung PC Manager on my old TV all the subfolder files where recognized just by adding the main folder.
I hope I explained this correctly.
Thanks for your speedy reply.
Chas
Plex doesn’t play folders. It plays media.
For the media to appear within Plex, Plex needs to recognize and identiy and match those media.
In order to be able to match your media, they need to be organised in a certain folder structure and have file names which follow the rules named in the links I gave you.
Hello
I know Plex doesn’t play folders. I have a folder named TV and inside that folder are TV shows in individual folders with episodes formatted and named proper. On other file streaming apps (Servio and Samsung PC Manager)all I have to do is add the main TV folder and all folders and there content are also visible. Do I have to add all folders individually ?
Thanks again
That’s exactly like Plex is working as well.
But for tv show content, you have to use a separate library, of the type ‘TV Shows’.
If you try to add tv show content to a ‘Movie’ type library, it’ll get ignored.
No, absolutely not. Doing that will create more problems.
