Hello All:

Just wondering cause I have tried this and I cannot get it to work…

Is it possible to create a sub-directory inside the MAIN folder and have PLEX see those shows listed in there…for example:

I have the Bionic Woman as my main folder for the 3 seasons of the show. But there are MOVIES that came out which I would like to keep inside that MAIN Bionic Woman folder and PLEX see’s that. The only way I have been able to get it to work is create a MAIN folder for each of the 3 movies so PLEX would see that. When trying to put them under the MAIN “Bionic Woman:”…plex does not see them. However if I swtch to FOLDER view, it clearly shows that the files are there…

The problem you are having is that you cannot mix content types in a Plex library. Since the “movies” are not identified as TV shows then Plex will not show them in a TV type library.

You could try seeing if those movies are listed as “specials” on in theTVDB and if so rename them as shown and place them in a “Season 00” or “Specials” folder.

The only other way to handle those movies is simply to place them in your movie library.

Do they need to be placed in that SPECIALS folder within there own folder or just the files themselves?

Whenever you want to add ‘movies’ into a tv show, look it up @ TheTVDB.
Often, these movies have been listed under the ‘Specials’ season already.

And even they don’t appear there, then ‘make up’ an episode number and name the file like a regular tv show episode.

The structure must be like this:

TV Shows <- The TV library points here
_______ShowName (year)
____________Season 01
__________________ShowName (year) - s01e01 - Optional Name.ext
__________________ShowName (year) - s01e02 - Optional Name.ext
__________________and so on for the shows in season 01
____________Season 02 <- just like Season 01
____________Season 03 <- and so on for each season

____________Season 00 <- or “Specials”
__________________ShowName (year) - s00e01 - Optional name
__________________ShowName (year) - s00e02 - Optional name
__________________and so on for each special

Note: the eXX part of the specials must match EXACTLY what is found in TheTVDB

You can try other setups BUT Plex is very picky about TV show structure and it is best not to fight the great Plexisaurus.

I am using the program FILEBOT to rename these shows and it seems to work very well…
