Are there any recommended settings for streaming mkv and mp4 files - HEVC and H264? I am continually running into problems with both. When I add subtitles the video will often freeze for 10-20 seconds then when it resumes it takes 30-60 seconds to get back in sync. I also have this sync problem almost every time I start streaming a video. I also will consistently get the error message that I don’t have enough bandwidth even though my server is connected by ethernet.
I have tried adjusting the various video playback settings at the file level - convert automatically/no conversion etc and for the system as a whole - play video at original quality etc. and it is never clear to me if any of these changes make a difference.
Server is running on Mac Mini M2 with 8GB memory running OS 15.2
I have a similiar issue, I have the media files on 3 NAS servers, The plex server on a Mac mini M1 16gb I have an externa SSD connected as the transcode temp folder. The NAS server and the Plex are all connected via ethernet on the same switch. Speed between NAS and Plex is around 100MB/s. The swtich is connected to a Netgear ORBI 960 router that in its turn is connected to the internet through a 1000/1000 fibre connections.
This would be the base of an excellent setup with not issues.
But when i try to watch a movie on my AppleTV i get some movies that works fine and other are not watchable. The video freezes and I flows great for a couple of seconds and it freezes again.
When I check the server it’s hardly working and the speed from the server to the Apple TV is between 300 - 400 Mb/s.
When I try a direct steram instead for transcoding the stream is running short fast burst of from the server and the video is freezing intermittently. When I transcode the streaming speed is constantly high and constant.?
I’m in a loss here… What can be wrong?
I can add that I have Infuse as a client on the ATV and that works perfectly with the Plext Server, so the issue seems to be client related on the ATV client. Yesterday i resintalled the client and still issue persist.
