Hello, I attempted to use my Synology DS218play alone as my Plex media server, however I tried putting a few home videos on there, and when streaming over the LAN to Apple tv I got the “not powerful enough” message.
Assumed that was a transcoding issue due to CPU processing power, so I tried moving the plex server to a mac on the same network, but library remained on the NAS connected to the LAN. This worked better, but still stuttering video.
Finally I tried installing the Plex server on the mac and moving the library to the mac also just to troubleshoot. This configuration worked flawlessly, but I want to use my NAS for storage.
If I use a mac + NAS combo, does the NAS physically need to be connected to the mac via USB instead of ethernet? I don’t have a way to put these near each other so hoping I can figure out what is causing the playback issue. TIA
