Recorded movies not showing trailers/extras?

Hello - I’ve noticed that my Plex is treating recorded .ts movies different than normal .mkv or .mp4 ripped movies. I record many movies via Live TV/DVR, those go into my Movies folder and do appear in my Movies library. However, I’ve noticed that for those .ts recorded movies = 1) no trailers are available. 2) no extras are available. 3) Related Movies on the movie detail page only show/list other .ts recorded movies.

My Movie library is >800 movies. About 100 of those are recorded from Live TV/DVR in Plex. I have ripped and uploaded extras and trailers for many of those movies, and that functionality works great. All naming convention follows recommendations. And IF I convert that .ts movie to .mp4 or .mkv, all those extras and trailers instantly appear.

Can anyone please assist?

Try this instead: open the context menu of the video and pick “Match”.

Background: Recordings are not matched to any metadata. Reason for this is that recordings get their names and metadata from the EPG. And it happens annoyingly often that these EPG metadata are either incomplete, wrong, or deviating from the metadata sources that are used for regular series and movie type libraries in Plex.
You will then end up with wrong episode numbers or completely wrong titles if you let everything match automatically.
Also the EPG often doesn’t get the type of the prgramme correct. Many series’ episodes are classified as “movies” and thus end up in the wrong library type.

That fixed it! Thank you! That never occurred to me as it had the correct poster, description, etc…But that makes sense how you explain it. Thanks again.
